Let's discuss "Wake up, girls"!

This anime is currently airing in Japan and has nine episodes and a movie. I recommend you to watch the movie first, because it's a priquel.
Information on ANN:

I liked only Miyu at first, but now I have several favourite characters.

Haven't seen Wake Up Girls at all, but I hear about it often. I've only really completed The iDOLM@STER, Hyperdimension Neptunia The Animation, and........ BlazBlue Alter Memory..... (trying to hold back rant mode). Do you personally recommend Wake Up Girls? Is it a great show, a decent one, an okay one, one that needs a lot of work, or is it Alter Memory levels of quality?

Yes, I do. Yes, it is. ;)

The art is a lot like IM@S, but more realistic and the story is set in 2014. It makes you think that it all happens with real Japanese girls. I have never felt like that before. In addition, this anime has a slow ending song, unlike other idol-themed animes.

I need to catch up; I've only watched the first three episodes.

From what I've seen, it is more of a drama show with an idol background than an idol show.  There is also some controversy following the producer (Yamakan) no matter what he does, but I don't dwell on it too much.

My favorite is Glutton, then Meido.

Minami is one of my favourites too! ;) What do you think about Mayu and her backstory?

I have a question for those who watched the movie with English subs. Which ones are better: HorribleSubs, Commie or Toki-Doki? Everyone writes that Commie and HorribleSubs are bad...

It was okay. I'm not hugely attached to Mayu as a character.

Commie sucks, Horrible is just a rip from Crunchyroll, which is what I watched (via PS4) and it was fine. I don't know a thing about Toki-Doki.

I thought Wake Up Girls was gonna be one of those anime that I watched every week, but then Chrome's built-in Flash (that I got because it auto-updates itself) starting stinking up a storm. It wasn't even funny. Youtube, Nico... all slow enough to make rotting zombies look like Iori fleeing from the Haruka-san army. I went off anime for a while because of that.

Looks like it's all cleared up though, the movie seems to be streaming fine for me now. I guess that means everything should be fine and I can get back to watching things.

Wake up, girls! TOTALLY ROCKS!!!!!  ;D although most of the episodes leave with a depressing yet realistic note or maybe I'm just adjusting from the overly positive and boring plot of Aikatsu. Pretty worth it if you ask me :D Especially Airi is like Yukiho but even more depressing so I got that going on for me in the series

Minami, Airi and Kaya trio all the way hahaha XD Wish I could produce them

No... The next episode is the last one! :( I'm afraid there won't be the second season! :( Why animes are so short nowdays...? :(
Anyway, to the actual discussion.
I think that I-1 Club is evil version of AKB48. Why?
1. AKB48 started as an indie group, but then became very popular.
2. AKB48 had three teams: Team A, Team K and Team B. (Now there is also Team 4)
3. AKB48 has its own theater in Akihabara. Its sister groups also have their own theatres.
It reminds of I-1, doesn't it?

Commie sucks

Why?

Minami, Airi and Kaya trio all the way hahaha XD Wish I could produce them

I wish I could produce a Miyu/Mayu/Minami unit...

Why?

Commie subs come in two flavors:

1) Troll subs
2) Stolen Crunchyroll scripts, usually with added trolling

Yay! I-1 Club's single is released! I thought that no one cared about the rival group, but I was mistaken!
I like "Little challenger" more than the second song.
By the way, Mayu's voice sounds like a mix of Chihaya-idol's and Rin's...

I never completed wake up, girls!; I only ever made it 6 or 7 episodes in. I do plan on finishing it and watching the movie eventually, though. My favorite characters are Kaya, Nanami, and Yoshino.

Watch the movie first, it's a priquel. Wake up, girls is a great anime! It has the same atmosphere as anim@s, so it's easy to imagine a crossover! ;)
