The typing works if you think of them as Cinderella Girl types rather than ViDaVo. Hokuto being the cool guy and Shouta as passion

In the brief time I was able to play the game, I noticed my starter Teru's highest stat was actually Dance during the boss round with Shiki, so the Red/Blue/Yellow structure isn't necessarily classifying them by best vocalist/dancer/charisma

I was under the impression that the symbols indicated what kind of idol they were. For example, red cards have a fire symbol, so I took it as those under red are the hot-blooded, passionate idols.

But if we split Jupiter up in the categories in ML and CG, I think Touma would be Vocal and Passion, Hokuto would be Visual and Cool, Shouta would be Dance and Cute.

With his corner-cut dancing in his role of the trio in IM@S 2, I always assumed he was image.

SideM Category is different from ML and CG.

Red: Physical (Passionate and Hot-Blooded)

The worst, imo, are placing Yukiho and Iori in the Passion Category and Makoto and Hibiki in the Cute Category in Cinderella Girls, when it really should be the other way around.

IMO, Iori should have been Cute, Yukiho is fine where she is, Makoto should have been Cool, and Hibiki's fine where she is.

I still like Makoto being in the Cute section, either out of irony or at least her hellbent effort to be cute.  It's kinda like Riina not fitting the cool rocker image at all but she's still in the Cool section.

It works out well enough for me. My three favorites are all in the Cute group, so it made my decision on which type of producer to be super easy.

According to the website and several online articles, the game is currently down and shall continue to be until summer. It's rather depressing, especially since Ken is mostly to blame.

The only problem with those VAs getting involved in SM is that they're pretty old. I have a strong feeling people are going to want the male idols around for a good while, so Namco will most likely look for up-and-coming male VAs, with female VAs for Arisu's brother and the other shotas.
