I also just wanted a complete collection of SideM St@rting Line CDs and 2nd Anniversary CDs. But all the in-game stuff that SideM has to offer makes it hard to ignore. (Like SR+ cards and 3-part dramas.)
Oh, speaking of cards; I did a little background check on Koron Chris, because of this one particular card...
I got curious because of his "Periclimenes Venustus (a.k.a Graceful Anemone Shrimp)" pronunciation, it sounded so accurate (with a little Japanese accent sprinkled in it).
Turns out that he actually lived in Germany for 9 years! His English is more fluent than his German! (Click 'Other' of his profile.)
I'm planning to write an English fan letter to him, if I ever have the chance to go to SideM 2nd. (Him and Balletta Yukata, perhaps.)

I already knew that sanpei could sound really manly if she wans to and she did her best in the songs to differ that ryo from dearly stars. you can feel that he is finally free to let it all out as a male idol!

I'm not really into male idols, but I'll say opinion about the songs I listened.
Mofumofuen's song was adorable and energetic. I love it.
Ryo's voice on new F-Lags songs was different. I expected the usual, kinda-girly voice. But, it doesn't matter to me. I still love the songs.

With this CD series coming to an end, I thought I'd be sentimental and say that this entire ST@RTING LINE series has just cemented SideM as my favorite male idol series.
I'm super picky about anisongs, and that's coming from someone with a passion for music. And coming from someone who also loves male idols... I'll admit that the songs are not as good as female anisong idols. There's something about iDOLM@STER and Love Live! songs and their production value that blows male anisongs out of the water. I don't know if it's a stigma, the voices themselves, the characters... but I've definitely felt it for a long time.
But after each SideM CD release, I'm always being pleasantly surprised by the vocals, composition, etc. You can tell Bandai, Lantis, and the seiyuu themselves have put so much heart into SideM and that's what I appreciate so much. The seiyuu shows and live appearances; these are new and growing seiyuu that we get to learn more and more about.
With that being said, I'm really excited for the future of SideM and, even with its faults, I'm glad I get to see the male anisong industry grow.
tl;dr: mixed feelings towards male anisong franchises, but sidem stands above them and alongside female anisong franchises
