Finally, another KOF player! :D! What three characters do you usually main? Mine are Athena, Iori (with flames) , and Terry.

I tend to go for Jenet, Kula, and...the third character is usually experimental, just a chance for me to try out a bunch of different characters and see who I end up liking. :P I'm not solid on my favorite third character yet, there are just so many to choose from. XD
My sister loves Iori. She tends to go for Kyo, Iori, and K'.
And she beats me every time. *sigh*

So I take it you mainly play XI. Nice!
I tend to only really be good with Kyo if he has the 94/95 moveset. So his normal form in XIII I can handle as well as any of his clones that have that style.
K' is mixed on me in terms of my performance with him. Sometimes I do fine, others.......
I tend to alternate between favorites for each game. 2002UM EX Takuma is all I need in that game! X)!

I think that's the one, it's X-something. XDD We have it for our PS2.
I actually first discovered KoF through NeoWave arcade at our local Chuckie Cheese's. Whenever we have a friend (of my little sister's, usually) who goes there, Kelly and I spend all our time at NeoWave. xD

I'm not used to Kyo or K' (or Iori) enough to use them properly yet. I think if I played as them more often, it'd be fine, but Kelly and I have this unspoken law that no two players may play as the same characters. Ever. Even if it's possible. :P
I have gotten good enough as Jenet and Kula to actually beat my sister a few times.
Now if only I could actually BEAT SHION ON MY FIRST TRY.

Yeah, it's XI. Jenet and Shion are ONLY in XI so far. Although the end of XIII's Story Mode hints at Shion's return.
I discovered KOF via Cacpom vs SNK 2 and loving how the SNK characters looked and played. Then I ended up gettin 98UM on the 360 and the rest is history.
I've yet to play Neowave, though that's only because its Xbox-exclusive in the US. PS2 Version is only in Japan and Europe and the PS2 is NOT import-friendly! I wanna play as May Lee again! X(!!!
I'm only used to 94 Kyo and Flames Iori because they play similar to Street Fighter characters Ryu and Ken. X)!
