Fan Game Idea (The Idolm@ster Wrestle for You!)

STORY MODE

The meat of the package. Story Mode is a telling of the idols we know and love and how they fare in the world of pro wrestling.

Structure

The whole thing is one big straight-forward story where the character will switch which character they're playing as depending on which character is supposed to win which match. Think of it like the story modes in Mortal Kombat 9 and Injustice Gods Among Us, except you play as multiple characters per chapter rather than just one.

Cutscenes

Cutscenes will play out a bit like BlazBlue or Hyperdimension Npetunia, where the cutscenes will primarily be done with 2D Portraits of each character with the occasional CG for either very important situations or in moments where character portraits won't do it enough justice (Such as one scene where Azusa gives Iori a hug, with Azusa accidentally suffocating Iori with her chest). The cutscenes will be fully voiced. Still determining as to whether or not to have an optional English Dub or keep it all Japanese.

Real excited at the idea of being able to manage Kotori. If(/when?) this becomes real, producing Kotori is gonna be my first step.

Also, if it were up to me, I'd just keep the voices in Japanese. Because Japanese people are incredible, and that way you wouldn't have to worry about English voice actors that can do the girls justice that you have to pay.

Now to introduce the original characters. They mainly appear in Management Mode. These characters are the President, Vice President/Secretary, Trainer, and Referee. Let's begin. (Warning, this may get lengthy)


Tanaka Inoue
Age: 43

Tanaka is the President of the Joshi Wrestling Stars Federation. Back in her day, she was one of the JWSF's first and finest champions. Now, retired from the wrestling circuit, she remains in the JWSF as it's current President, after taking over the position from her predecessor, Maki Kato, the woman who founded the JWSF. Tanaka has a spiritual successor in the ring in the form of her daughters, Melissa and Alex, as Melissa has inherited Tanaka's strength and sexiness while Alex inherited her speed and spunk.

Trivia
-Tanaka was the champion of the JWSF in 1991, when she was only 20 years old.
-Tanaka, like the other Presidents in the iM@S series, is seen as a black silhouette.
-Tanaka occasionally gets in the Training Ring to train her daughters.
-The reason she has a Japanese first name and yet her daughters have western sounding names is because Tanaka married an American-Japanese Man.


Melissa Inoue
Age: 22
Height: 159cm

Melissa is the Vice-President, Secretary, Announcer, and Occasional Competitor at the Joshi Wrestling Stars Federation. Melissa joined the JWSF after being inspired from watching her mother's old tapes when she was a wrestler. Melissa wants to help keep Tanaka's legacy alive while also lending Tanaka a hand at the office. Melissa will serve as your tutorial guide.

Trivia
-Melissa is kind of a pervert. She will comment about the skimpy clothing your wrestler has on, especially if she has large assets. This led to rumors of her being a lesbian.
-Melissa has the special skill of being able to drink five bottles of liquor and not pass out. This impresses even her mother.
-Despite her age and mature demeanor, Melissa has a strong fear of clowns. This is mainly due to a traumatic experience from her childhood that she refuses to talk about.


Alexandra "Alex" Inoue
Age: 16
Height: 154cm
Weight: 41kg
Birthday: April 22nd
Blood Type: AB

Hobbies: Wrestling, Roller Blading, Laser Tag
Favorite Food: CANDY!!!

Alex is the top trainer of the Joshi Wrestling Stars Federation, the youngest daughter of Tanaka Inoue, and the younger sister of Melissa Inoue. Alex is a high school junior who helps out at the JWSF during her spare time and trains newcomers into the ropes. Despite her young age and small demeanor, she is rather skilled at wrestling and is considered one of the top tiers of the ring, though Melissa and Tanaka can still wipe the floor with little Alex, as Melissa loves to prove time and time again. Outside of wrestling, she's kind of a slacker, which explains her C average at school, and just wants to kick back and play video games.

Trivia
-Alex LOVES Candy! She can't get enough of it! Her Twitter posts mainly consist of what candy she's currently eating. This has earned her the ring name of "Sweet Tooth".
-Alex has a friendship with Hibiki and Yayoi due to their similar Genki nature.
-Alex can't swim. She needs support if she ever gets in the pool. This embarrasses her spectacularly.


Sayuri Kimura
Age: 17
Height: 157cm
Weight: 45kg
Birthday: August 13th
Blood Type: O

Hobbies: Noh Theater, Studying
Favorite Food: Zosui

Sayuri is the head referee of the Joshi Wrestling Stars Federation. Sayuri is a more traditional Japanese girl who was raised by her mother, a geisha, and her father, a Shinto priest and lives with her little brother. Sayuri came to the JWSF as she was searching for work and she knew how to keep everything in balance, thus Tanaka thought that refereeing would be the perfect job for her. Sayuri appears as referee during Management Mode matches.

Trivia
-Sayuri is very shy when it comes to her body. She doesn't want people to stare at her assets and only wants people to see her face when they are around her. This is a real problem at school when it comes to boys.
-Sayuri is consistently annoyed by her little brother. Regardless, the two love each other very much.
Sayuri has had sake in the past and admittedly does not like the taste of it.

Ayako Hakurei
Age: 18

Ayako was born an orphan in New York City, specifically at The Bronx to a Japanese woman. This is because her mother died shortly after giving birth to her. Ayako lived on the streets for a majority of her life until a Japanese family adopted her at the age of 13. She now resides as a Shrine Maiden who also regularly attends school for her third and final year of High School. She joined the JWSF after one of her classmates convinced her to take up as a hobby. Ayako is always determined to get the job done, even if she does not wish to do it.

Trivia
-Ayako is honest to a T. She can never tell a lie and on the rare occasions that she does, it's so incredibly obvious that she is lying.
-Ayako is based on Reimu Hakurei of the Touhou Project series of games. They even share a last name and occupation.
-Ayako is an avid gamer and has participated in multiple tournaments, livestreams, etc. She is especially a fan of the games about "A Blue Hedgehog that runs really fast."
-Ayako loves to eat ramen. She may even be able to compete against Takane in a Ramen-Eating Contest.

Ellen Kurosawa
Age: 17

Ellen is Ayako's classmate and one of her closest friends. Ellen is the stereotypical Nerd. She loves reading, has A's in every class, always takes the hardest courses and even wears braces. However, one little detail sets Ellen apart from other nerds. She is very very beautiful. Her pretty face, large assets (the largest of any student, in fact), the fact that she wears glasses, and her wondrous voice (even if with a bit of a lisp) has made her a favorite among many at school, in which she somewhat rejects the attention as it detracts from her work ethics. Ellen joined the JWSF as her way of gaining some sort of physical activity as her mother wouldn't stop complaining about Ellen's lack of proper exercise. Ellen is a know-it-all who conducts research on random topics for fun and can answer a good majority of the questions you throw at her.

Trivia
-Ellen may seem kind and shy, but if you either provoke her or do something incredibly dim-witted, she will show a snarky side to her personality.
-Ellen has an adopted little sister named Indigo.
-Ellen gets furious if you spell her name as "Erren".
-Ellen has memorized the entire Periodic Table back in the 3rd Grade and the entire literary history of William Shakespeare by her freshman year of High School.
-Ellen, when not reading something intellectual, will watch anime. One of her favorites involves "An Academy that teaches Children how to wield living weaponry that was founded by the Grim Reaper".


Marie Susan
Age: 16

Marie is a girl born in Miami, Florida who moved to Japan when she was only five years old. Marie is based on the Mary Sue character archetype. She is perfect in just about every way. She's kind, she's cheerful, she's a straight-A student, she's very pretty, she has a strong sense of justice, and she has mastered everything she does. However, there is one big deconstruction about her: nobody really likes her. A good portion of the people around her think that she is completely abnormal due to how perfect she is. This leads Marie to become a bit depressed and join the JWSF in order to finally gain respect and friendship that she so desperately desires. Also, she doesn't mind getting a bit down and dirty from time to time.

Trivia
-As mentioned above, Marie is meant to be a deconstruction of the Mary Sue character archetype. Heck, it's even in her name!
-Marie is the only character who consistently wears make-up. She wears pink eyeliner above her eyelashes.
-To the surprise of everybody she meets, Marie is a big sports fan. Her favorite sport to watch with her father and older brother from college is Basketball and their favorite team is the Miami Heat.
-Marie, on her spare time, likes to read Manga and play Idol Raising Simulation Games.

The spotlight goes to one of the rival characters from the JWSF Super Stars, Ellen Kurosawa with the unveiling of her character design along with her casual and wrestling outfits. Here ya go.




Now I know what a good chunk of you may be thinking, "She's got massive boobs for a girl her age. What gives?" Ellen is quite the voluptuous girls, isn't she?  Anyway, I wanted to make a character that would fit the archetype of a nerdy character, but at the same time make her look like she would be the attractive dream girl that any man (and some women) would want. Ellen's design is essentially a breakaway of the usual nerd design seen in cartoons. Normally the nerds are unattractive characters with pimples all over the place, tucked in shirts, horribly clad in plaid, buck teeth coupled with braces, and glasses nobody would be caught dead wearing. (No offense to fictional nerds everywhere.) Ellen was designed to be the complete inverse. She looks very cleaned up, has a sense of fashion, her glasses look normal, her braces are barely noticeable (in fact, they're not visible at all here), and her only "pimple" is a beauty mark under her cheek. You can say that she's an expy of Velma Dinkley, another nerdy character who has some sort of attractiveness factor to her design. Also, if you remember from her profile, her bust size is on-par with Azusa, 765Pro's largest when it comes to bust size.

Ellen's wrestling outfit was slightly inspired by King from the Tekken series. Originally, I wanted Ellen to wear a mask with her outfit. I penciled it into the design and immediately thought it looked kinda silly. So I went with the Magic Indestructible Glasses. Hey, it works. 

Ellen's backstory has her enter the JWSF for two reasons. One is because her mother wanted her to take part in some form of exercise since Ellen rarely ever goes to the gym. Another reason being that Ellen is taking over as a spiritual successor to her retired girlfriend (more on that later), Nicole Sanchez, who previously competed in the JWSF as its only Hispanic competitor. Nicole retired after too many losses and injuries in the ring and Ellen decided to take over and continue her legacy.

From that last paragraph, I have confirmed one very significant detail about Ellen. She is, in fact, homosexual. This detail was to give a character that is homosexual, but without her becoming a stereotype about it. In fact, she fits the nerd stereotype more than she does the lesbian stereotype. I do feel that homosexual people can be featured in the media just as well and positively as heterosexual people.

Personally, Ellen is my favorite of the three rival characters. Her design, personality, and overall character is one I had a lot of fun with. I guess it has to do with my fancy for nerdy girls with big breasts and glasses.

Introducing Strikers. Every character has a unique assist character that helps them in the middle of the match whenever the appropriate button command is pressed. Here's Yayoi's Striker, Emperor Penguin. This also confirms that Ellen, along with Ayako, Marie, Melissa, Alex, and even Nicole are playable in Versus Mode after meeting certain requirements.



Btw, Grace and Liza, this is, by technicality, representing Xenoglossia. This isn't all that its getting, though.

To make up for Ryo not being a playable character, he is instead a selectable referee before matches along with five other characters. However, Ai isn't too happy when one of her best friends has to give her a foul.

Anyway, a Toaster is an item in this game. You can toss it at opponents and it surrounds them in flames for a short period of time, damaging them in the meantime.

Today is both a character reveal and a character spotlight. The Management Mode NPC, Nicole Sanchez. First, info.

Nicole Sanchez
Age: 17
Height: 165cm
Weight: 43kg
Birthday: July 7th
Blood Type: O

Hobbies: Dancing, Scuba-Diving, Studying
Favorite Food: Empanadas

Nicole is a Hispanic girl hailing from the Dominican Republic who moved to Japan with her parents and her little sister, Mia. Nicole is a senior at the same High School that Ellen and Ayako go to and is an average student there. She's only a "B" student, after all. Nicole decided to join the JWSF as their first Hispanic fighter, however a match that nearly cut her life short caused her to retire. She still frequently goes to the JWSF as a VIP, but the question still remains: Will Nicole wreslte again?

Trivia
-Nicole shares a dynamic with Mia. They are the typical "Cool, Level-Headed Older Sister with Hyperactive, Obnoxious Little Sister" and this causes them to fight a lot. Mia even has a tendency to butt in on Ellen and Nicole when those two are at their "personal time".
-Nicole, along with Mia, got their names from my baby cousin from the Dominican Republic named "Mia Nicole".
-Nicole is the only character that wears a mask in the ring. You can remove the mask by holding select when choosing her.
-Nicole plays Video Game during her free time, but always gets dominated by Ayako.

Now for the actual character spotlight. Here's Nicole's character design featuring her casual outfit and wrestling attire.



The concept of giving Ellen a mask was instead used for Nicole, as it makes a lot more sense for a Hispanic like her to be the masked wrestler. Nicole has a voluptuous body like Ellen does, mainly due to emphasizing the fact that she is foreign and not a lot of natural Japanese girls can gain a body like that when they're young.

Nicole came along when I wanted to have a concept for a character similar to Kotori. Both characters were once doing what the other characters are doing, both had to retire their careers early, and both help around at their respective agencies. Because of this, Nicole will appear the most during Kotori's scenario in Management Mode as the two begin to share a mutual friendship about the things they have in common.

Nicole's backstory is somewhat tragic. She wanted to wrestle at the JWSF, but did not have the best win-loss record, with more losses than wins. However, this reaches its peak when Nicole had to participate in a No Holds Barred Cage Match. This match was one-sided against her and her opponent was ruthless. Nicole was beaten, broken, humiliated, and all-around destroyed. Nicole was on the verge of death as she was rushed to the hospital and miraculously awoke from a three-month coma. Due to the trauma as well as being the final nail in the coffin for her pride, Nicole threw in the towel and retired as a competitor at the JWSF. Ellen joined the Federation as Nicole's spiritual successor.

I had a lot of time and fun coming up with Nicole and I hope you all enjoy her.
