The Portal of Zeta - a rundown of potential fan projects
« on: February 11, 2014, 01:47:40 am »
I've been wanting to show off my creative side and post my ideas for art/fanfics online for quite a while now, but procrastination and lack of motivation kept me from doing so. Recently, I've made creating fan projects and being more active with my creativity a New Year's Resolution this year. I've been drawing/sketching (it's a pretty simple style, TBH), creating PowerPoint animations, and (more recently) writing fanfics for a long time now, but have never posted them online either because I was scared of trolls (or people who just think my ideas are lame) or because I didn't have the time or motivation with school and music practice. Here are some ideas I've been thinking about doing.
  • Project PPG, a magical girl series set a few decades after the events in Powerpuff Girls. This was a project that began in 2000 and has evolved significantly since its first creation. Back then, it was a cheap, formulaic, repetitive, incredibly lame Saturday-morning action series (you know, the kind where someone's causing trouble in the city, the girls transform, bust the villain, save the day. The end). I dropped it about the time I entered high school.

However, around the time PPGZ came along, I revived it with a more serious approach. While there are still MOTWs, I actually added a plot. Jozaru--a descendent of Mojo Jojo--is planning to wipe out humanity and replace it with his own super-beings called Wilders, containing both human and animal DNA. He also seeks an ancient gemstone said to have fallen to Earth from space and contains enough power to destroy entire planets--basically like a bite-size Death Star. Four girls in Atlantic City (not the one in New Jersey) who were born with Powerpuff DNA inside them (and thus inherited some of their traits) are Earth's greatest hope against this new threat. Through the perseverance of a scientist and his devoted assistant (who is the lead male in the series), the girls are given the power to awaken their dormant abilities and thwart the forces of evil just like their predecessors did long ago.
  • iDOLM@STER Neo Vision is my second-most recent idea. Beginning just a few weeks after the events in iM@S2, a new entertainment company, ZetaPro (consisting of a group of OC idols), seeks to rise to stardom from the depths of obscurity. However, a new unit known as NAZO has become the biggest national idol sensation in just a matter of weeks. Worst yet, they seem to show hostility towards ZetaPro. The young and talented musician/composer Kenji Kodou age 15 is appointed ZetaPro's new producer. As the idols rise in popularity, it becomes apparent that this journey isn't just about shooting for "top idol." Unity will once again become a big factor in this tale of laughs, hardships, coming-of-age, and, of course, fanservice.

Of course, the idols we all know and love (765pro and 876pro) will still be around and Kuroi still has some tricks up his sleeve. No mobile game idols though. Sorry to all you Cinderella Girls and Million Live fans out there...

More to come later.

I'm gonna be honest; this looks awesome.

Probably because I create idol OCs myself and was actually planning on writing about them too. Or, rather, I'm GOING to, but I don't plan on posting it anywhere. So.

But seriously. I want to see this happen. Good luck with your writing! I know how nasty that can be.

I've already got sketches of all 23 ZetaPro idols down. Got their casual outfits, training outfits, and gravure swimsuits. Plus, I did sketches of Kenji, Yamato Ryuuzaki (NAZO's producer), NAZO's casual outfits, and Kaito Ootori--an older friend of Kenji's who helps him out in his job, mainly driving him and the girls to work and back. I'll post them soon along with bios of each character.

But those two aren't all of my ideas. Stay tuned for more.

I've also had an idea regarding original idols. Male idols. I've been thinking of pitching it to an otome game community and get some male fandubbers and make it a community project. I know that one of these original idols will be a shota (female voiced) idol that I will voice myself. Maybe I should make a thread about it... It would heavily involve 876 and Ai and Eri would play a role, too.

I'm looking forward for the pictures with the original idols, but remember: I hate fanservice with a passion! 8)  There are a lot of good animes that could be much better without it.

I'd be willing to provide the voice for one of these original idols!

Actually, so would I. If you needed a voice.

Also, I can't wait to see your sketches! :D

Later on today I'm going to make a separate thread (in the community works folder) for iM@S Neo Vision. Sketches, character bios (including dream VAs), each character's Story Mode story, "gameplay" (I do plan to make it like a classic idol raising sim), songs, etc. Still not sure whether to make it a PowerPoint animation (to show auditions and such) or just a script-style fanfic.

Anyway, on to my other ideas.

  • Silver Dragon Wars is my second oldest project dating back to 2001. It's an action/card/strategy monster arena VR game inspired by Digimon, Dragon Quest Monsters, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Zatch Bell. Like Project PPG, it's set in Atlantic City (still not the one in New Jersey). Since I was still pretty young at the time, the series was pretty episodic/formulaic, revolved around the battles, and didn't have much of a plot, although it did display my early knowledge in mythology. The artwork was especially fun for me...the monsters were all chibi and child-like (in their standard forms). A couple of my classmates really fell in love with some of them. Then came Hyper Mode forms, which were bigger, stronger, fiercer, and much more challenging to draw.

Over the years, I changed the main character's element from Fire to Light, added two more characters, and made the battles more RPG-like. Summoners (players) can now elect to expend their turn to Focus, building the monster's Force Level. Think Skies of Arcadia. Higher Force Levels mean access to bigger attacks, special abilities, defensive skills (for a cost), and can be built up to Level 3 to achieve Hyper Mode. Hyper Mode monsters can Focus up to Force Level 5 and have access to Ougi moves (which cost 5 Force Levels).
  • Zetacario (Z-olu during his younger years) is an anything-goes Pokémon Powerpoint animation series. This was inspired by my early years on Facebook tagging my friends as Pokémon and a reoccurring habit of making several outside references to the attacks. While there are some incredibly random comedic moments akin to shows like Azumanga Daioh and Excel Saga, it did have a bit of a plot. Zeta, the main character, has Asperger's Syndrome. Yup. Zeta is a Mary Sue. ::) The series mainly revolves around his accomplishments and hardships that often come with being autistic. Since a few of his friends have challenges of their own, some episodes how Zeta helps inspire them to cope with their struggles. Of course, peer pressure, bullies, a 75-foot half-naked stalker, corrupted school systems, first-amendment junkies, and even cyber-terrorists threaten his safety, but Zeta and his friends are ready to face any challenge.

During his early years, Zeta's intense emotions (such as sadness, anger, and fear) led to massive bursts of aura. While this gives him incredible power, he completely loses control of his body and mind. Afterwards, he will often collapse upon exhausting so much of his aura. This "aura rage" was inspired by times when a disabled person's excess stress can lead to wild tantrums. Over the years, though, Zeta learns to control his aura and uses it for the benefit of others.

Zeta, like a few autistic people, is also very sensitive to touch. Even a Psychic-type's mind waves make him feel like someone is tapping him on the head. If they are powerful enough, sometimes Zeta cringes in pain as if he's being pelted with rocks.

Okay, maybe that's a lame idea, but I thought I'd also use Pokémon since Satoshi Tajiri is autistic himself. I thought it would be a decent way to promote autism awareness and how a lot of "normal" people were inspired by their accomplishments.
  • Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?, my most recent idea. A revival of the '90s game show with several twists. 765pro's idols are the primary singing group. They often rotate or team up with 876pro, Jupiter, μ's, Afternoon Tea Time, the CPUs and CPU Candidates from Neptunia, the cast of Wake Up Girls, and ST☆RISH. The show is broadcasted in San Diego State University as it is sponsored by KPBS of San Diego (the original was broadcasted in New York). Wayne Brady and Jonathan Mangum (from Let's Make a Deal) host the show while yours truly (as a Lucario) plays the Chief. All the contestants will be OCs. There are also some added features that somewhat act as shout-outs to game shows of the past. Due to an increased budget, the prizes have gotten much bigger, including exotic trips, cash, and even cars. This potential series is the inspiration for my current custom-made ACME logo.

Not sure if this will work as I've noticed some people frown upon crossovers, but they were inspired by fanfics on carmensandiego.info. Plus I've been into crossover games like Cross Edge and Project X Zone, so, yeah.

Let me know what you think. I haven't gotten much feedback on my ideas before (aside from close friends from school), but it is greatly encouraged and appreciated.

I'm actually a huge fan of crossovers and "tampering" (for lack of a better word) with canon to make something awesome. Like, all of my best fanfics are either crossover or AU. Or both. ...I'm lame. So these look like good ideas. :3

I like the idea of using a fan project to promote autism awareness. I have a couple friends with Asperger's, so I know how it can be for them. :3

Also I still really love Yu-Gi-Oh!.[/list]
