I pay way too much attention. Probably doesn't help (or does it?) that I've seen the whole series through 3 times and plan to do it again. XD

I can definitely agree with you on that. That Chihaya was so wrecked emotionally that Del Donna was able to just swoop in, offer her up a chance for revenge, and swoop her away.
That's why I do feel that Chihaya had one of the best reasons for joining Turiavita. I mean, if the one person I loved more than anything else in the world suddenly betrayed me for a ribbon-wearing Main Character, I'd be p*ssed too. XDD

I hated Chihaya back in 2012 (that's why 23th and 24th episodes were my most favourite), but in January of 2013 I have found this song... It's the second Nemurihime, believe me!!! ::)

Honestly, I'm REALLY mad at Chihaya. Like, as much as I totally understand her feelings, she did an awful lot of horrible things.
Also she's totally insane. AND SHE FREAKING LICKED YUKIHO'S FACE.

But yeah.

I have nothing against Haruka, but I just really didn't care about her. Like, I liked her, but she was just sorta...there.

I feel the same about Haruka and Chihaya, but I manage to love and hate Chihaya at the same time! 8) Such a thing never happened with me before, I could only EITHER like or dislike characters.

And what about the song? Did it make you like Chihaya at least a bit more?

I either love a character, hate them, or they're just kinda...there. :P
I LOVED Makoto, Karasu, Joseph, Iori, and Riffa.
I HATED Saku Hibiki and Del Donna. And to a lesser extent, Chihaya and Yukiho after the former went insane and the latter betrayed Mondenkind.
I DIDN'T CARE about the twins, Haruka, Ritsuko, and pretty much everyone else.

Except I really liked Hotaru and Chikako. And Naraba, Sorewa, and Naze.
And I was pretty mad at Azusa after she just turned around and fired Makoto. I forgave her right before she died.

And about the song...frankly, no, not really. As beautiful as Kaori Shimizu's voice is, Chihaya's character and attitude was still just downright rotten in the later part of the series. It made me really furious at her, and I often found myself screaming at her. I understand her, but that doesn't mean I could necessarily forgive her for everything she did.

There is a Japanese Xenoglossia wiki:

http://xenoglossia.dip.jp/

It's quite informative!

For example, I've found info about terminology! There is a Bastard term in Xenoglossia. It was mentioned twice: by Chihaya in the 11th episode and by Hibiki Saku in the 20th episode. The word itself is a botanical term which means "hybrid", but in Xenoglossia universe it refers to rejected Masters.

If I read Japanese, I would die of excitement from this.

That's pretty awesome. If I had access to Twitter, I'd go check that out.

Yeah, guys. It gets boring with just Liza and I. Even if you have terrible things to say, come share your opinions~!

Ha. :P If it's to some consolation, I'm reluctant to give this a try due to how deviating it is to the source material. That, and the lack of Asami Imai as Chihaya is straight up heresy.

I never understood why people don't like Xenoglossia just because it's a mecha show and not an idol show. By the same logic, all those Sword World replays with Im@s characters in them should be horrible - idols are about performing on stage, not swinging swords and slinging spells, but people still love 'em.

Voice actors I can kinda see, but people got over Yukiho undergoing throat replacement, they can get through this too. Just because the voice actors are different doesn't mean Yukari Tamura is automatically bad at the role. Mucking around with character designs I can see more, as long as it's nothing inane like some girl's age being different. Looking at Iori takes a little getting used to, I'll admit, but it's not a cardinal sin or anything.

On the other hand, if people are dissing it because it's a bad mecha show or because their personalities are totally off, that I can understand.
Cael's Im@s Ranking: Azusa, Yumeko, Tomomi, Haruka

First of all, that Kermit.

Second of all, yes, I completely agree that it is nothing like the original iM@S. That can definitely turn people away. I myself was reluctant to watch it for a while because it was so different.

I never really thought about that.

But I think that part of it is that, yes--their personalities ARE completely different. For the most part.
Azusa is serious for once, Chihaya is a psycho yandere, Yukiho is a narcoleptic, Makoto is just a B*TCH, Iori is a tomboy, Yayoi is LIKE SEVENTEEN...

Yeah.

That's why I had to watch it like a totally different show.

Simply because they can, Cael. Whatever Sword World may be, people having a distaste for Xenoglossia doesn't necessarily guarantee their knowledge of that, much less a fondness. Either way, it goes to each their own.

In regards to voicing, surely you're meant to take that in jest. To that end I've also not condemned whoever came as replacements. In fairness, though, I can't see change in 2nd Vision as well as you could. It's been ingrained that much as I feel the seiyuu's reflect their characters to far more than a voicing degree.

Having said that, would it make you feel better had I also mentioned to despising how the characterizations are handled, in specific regards to deviation? :P
