Hello, everyone! Yoroshiki onegaishimasu!

But they fit together well. As evidenced by Doppelgangers!. Not that anyone but you and me know what that is. XD

But the Chihayas are not complete opposites! There were a lot of hints at Chihaya-Master in SPs.
Now try to guess right answer:
Producing Chihaya, I had the feeling that all the choices cold be divided on three groups: an answer Haruka-Master would give (bad), an answer Yukiho-Master would give (normal), and THE RIGHT ONE.
In addition, there was an "Image change" communication. According to it, the best new image for Chihaya would be... an arrogant one.

They may have similar goals, but when watching the series I felt the Chihayas were polar opposites in terms of personality. While Chihaya is calm, mellow, somewhat distant, and a bit cold at times, she genuinely cares about all the people around her and is able to show a soft side to more than just a select handful of people. Xenoglossia Chihaya, on the other hand, came across as rude, haughty, cruel, and almost plain psychotic. She was only able to show her smile to a select few people. In addition, Chihaya is putting in long hours of hard work as an idol to try to achieve her dream, while Xenoglossia Chihaya is perfectly willing to take a violent and destructive path to getting Imber. I just felt that they weren't all that similar.
It's the same with all the pairs I mentioned--while they may have elements that are similar, in terms of personality, they're quite opposite. Yukihos are another one.

I think what makes two Chihayas different is their childhood. While Chihaya-idol was enjoying a happy life with her real family, Chihaya-Master suffered from terrible experiments done by her adopt parrents. No one loved her, no one respected her, so Imber was everything she had. it is not inconceivable that Azusa and Chihaya were raised separately after Chihaya's first meeting with Imber. I think Azusa found Chihaya later and told her she was her sister just for both of them not being lonely.
In all other aspects, however, the Chihayas are very similar: both of them are serious and dedicated to their goals, knowing wery little about anything else. An example of Chihaya-Master can be the second CD-Drama, where she should have been Riffa's partner in the opening talk, but she almost didn't talk. :( In the end of the track, however, she suddenly decided to declare the title of the drama, while Binetsu S. O. S. was playing, but she messed everything up! ;D Chihaya-Master must have been very embarrassed! ;D I won't be surprised if she doesn't know how to write and send an sms!
And... here is my last argument! 8)

I can see what you mean, but I stand by my argument. I dunno, they have similar aspects, but like I said, or the most part I think their personalities were polar opposites. Cold, distant, yet kind and caring Chihaya, and rude, haughty, violent, and greedy XenoChihaya.
But yes, I can definitely see why you think they are similar. ^^
