Dream Club

(Mari) You’re heading the wrong way. Don’t swing from side to side. Just follow me.

(TL. NOTE. Look at this, Mari suddenly invites us to the VIP room at the second floor. I didn’t expect it to happen so soon. She does seem to like us)

(Mari) This is a VIP room, you’re like a king here. OK, let’s enjoy our time.

Cheers!

I have a weakness for chocolate.

(Mari) Geez, I almost feel the kiss, don’t you think?

Story dialog.
“Decision about the band”

(mp) I was thinking and I decided.
(mp) I think I’m ready to sing a duet with you.
(mp)(but I didn’t say I was a reincarnation…)
(mp)(I want her to understand this)
(Mari) I’m glad.
(Mari) My brother is back, everything’s fine.
(mp) W-what?
What do you mean, your brother is back?
(Mari) Yesterday he appeared all of a sudden.
Will you celebrate this with me?
(mp) I-I see…
So, your brother is back…
(mp) That means I’m not needed anymore?
(Mari) What do you mean you’re not needed?
(mp) I mean as a singer.
Third is a crowd.
(Mari) No, you’re wrong.
(mp) You try to console me.
(mp) After all, I didn’t want to deal with it from the start…
(mp)(now I’m an ordinary client here…)
(mp)(but there’s nothing I can do about it now that her brother is back)
-
(extension)

(Mari) Do you want to know a secret of this eyepatch?

(TL. NOTE. Actually, her eyes are perfectly OK. She’s just playing at pirates)

(mp) No, not really.
(mp) You look good with this patch.
I like it.
(Mari) I see…Well, if you don’t want to know then forget it.
Modesty is a merit, you know.
(mp)(actually, I wanted to ask her about this stuff…)
-
(time is up)

(seeing off)

(Mari) When you’re away, I pick at this wound and I feel I’m alive.
(Mari) And I want to feel it again.
(mp)(kill me but I can’t get what she means. But let’s forget it…)
(mp) OK, if you feel you’re alive I’ll drop by for sure.
-
(Mari) Say, don’t you want to have some tea?
(mp) Sure I don’t mind.
(Mari) Then let’s get going.
You don’t mind if we stop by the same café?
(mp) OK, I’ll be glad to go with you.
-
(at the café)

(Mari) The tea is good here, don’t you think?
But it’s one of the places where you feel awkward to come alone.
(mp) Well, you can always ask me out. I’ll be happy to keep you company.

(Mari) When you say things like this I get soaked…
(mp) R-really?
(mp)(she gets soaked…now that’s bold of her…)
(Mari) It’s dripping, I’m waiting for it…
(mp) I-I see…
(Mari) It was the same last time when I invited you.
(Mari) When you go for a tea you get completely wet in the rain…
(Mari) I told you I’m a rain woman.
(Mari) You’re soaked as well, don’t you?
(mp) Er…you mean the rain…
And I thought you’re…er….
(Mari) I’m what?..
(mp) N-no, it’s nothing. I-I mean it’s hot inside.
M-maybe they forgot about air-conditioning. Hehe…
(mp)(I got it completely wrong…First I had a chill then I was in sweat…)
(Mari)  And I’m cold. *coughs profusely*
(mp) It’s OK…
But you’re coughing. You didn’t catch a cold, did you?
(Mari) Don’t worry.
I’ll take a sleep and it’ll be gone.
(Mari) But you’ll catch it instead of me.
(mp) I doubt it.
(mp) I’m a fool and fools don’t catch colds.
I hardly get sick.
(mp) So let’s enjoy our tea.
After all, we have a date.
(Mari) Yeah, I want to get warm, too.
Will you sit a little longer?
(mp) Sure.
(mp) First you should take hot tea then you take a sleep and you’ll be fine.
(Mari) I hope so.
You make life easier, you know?
-

(Mari) Thank you for the company.
I enjoyed our tea together.
(TL NOTE. Kei-on club is open)
(mp) I liked it as well.
Get well soon.
(Mari) Don’t worry I won’t die. OK, see you.
(mp) See you.
(Mari) Wait a sec…
(mp) Eh? Did you forget something?
(Mari) Before I leave…Swear to me.
(mp) Swear? Do you want me to promise something?
(Mari) It’s a secret.
(mp) What do you mean, a secret? I can’t promise a secret.
(Mari) God will be your judge.
(mp) You’re raving.
(Mari) I know you’ll keep the promise.
That’s why I want you to swear to me.
(mp)(if I told her go to blazes I’d spoil the mood…)

(we hold her hand)

(mp)(that’s why I took her hand and swore…)
(mp) I swear!
(Mari) OK, the contract is sealed…
(Mari) If you don’t keep your promise long spikes will drop from the skies and nail you to the ground.
(mp) Jesus.
(Mari) But I know you’ll do it right.
(mp) I see…
(Mari) Come on, relax! It’ll be fine.
(mp)(thank you very much. Now you gave me real trouble)
(mp)(but she looks happy. We’ll see how it goes…)
-
(Mari) OK, bye.
(mp) Thank you for invitation.
See you.
(Mari) OK, later.
(mp)(I think we became closer…)

Monday, June 25.

Mari hearfully thanks us for keeping her company. She’s a bit upset about the rain. She can’t take it why it’s raining every time she asks us out. But she’s happy with the date.
-
Saturday, June 30.

(Mari) I was waiting for you.

The chocolate.

“The band and the club”

(mp) Mari-chan, tell me what’s more important for you, the band or the club?
(Mari) Do I…have to answer this question?
(mp) Not at all. But I’m worrying about it.
(Mari) Both are precious to me.
I can’t compare these things.
(mp)(honestly, I wanted to ask her what would she choose, me or her brother but I can’t say it aloud…)
(mp) It’s…it’s nothing.
(Mari) You cannot say A without saying B.
(mp) N-no, it’s OK. I have already guessed what you answer will be like.
(Mari) Ahem…
(Mari) You know, I want to ask you out…
(mp) Eh? Me?
(Mari) Do you…hate me?

(mp) By all means!
(Mari) Then it’s decided.
(Mari) Now it’s me who chooses the destination.
And you’ll go with me.
(mp) OK, I’ll go.
After all, it’s an invitation.
(Mari) Wait for it, you’ll be surprised.
(mp)(I should leave a positive impression. Or else I’ll lose to her brother completely…)

Dating.

(mp) It’s been a millennium since I was in an amusement park last time.
What about you?
(Mari) Can I…lick it?

(mp) Y-you want to lick…?

(Mari) I want to lick your…
No, I can’t wait anymore.
(mp) You want my…
(Mari) Your ice-cream is melting.
(mp) My ice-cream?
That’s what we bought just now.
(mp) AAAAA…It’s MELTING!!!
(Mari) Eat it soon. What a slow boy!
(mp) I’m sorry…
Mari-chan, where are we going now?
(Mari) OK…
(Mari) I want to see a costume show of superheroes.
(mp) A costume show? Isn’t it that thing for kids?
(mp) It’s actually a fan of “Squeaky soprano squad”
(TL NOTE. It’s a parody on Gorangers)

(Mari) I guessed that.
(mp) Were you…worrying about me?
(Mari) No. I just like performances.
(mp) It’s the first time for me. I’m intrigued.
OK, shall we go? It’s a bit early but we should be OK.
(Mari) Yeah…
If we come earlier we can take a seat with a good view.
(mp) Roger!
-
(mp) Wow, it was great!
(Mari) Yeah, it's quite amusing.
(mp) When you see such action you’re trembling yourself.
(mp) We still have time. Maybe we stop at one more place?
(Mari) I wanted to watch a movie.
(mp) A movie? No problem.
(Mari) We can still make it for the last show.
(mp) OK, understood.
-
(mp) We’re on time.

(Mari) Do you have any drink?
(mp) I’ll go get something for you.
(mp) And what’s the show?
(Mari) “Underground”. And the subtitle is “Men Who Dug a Tunnel”
(mp) What’s that about?
(Mari) It’s a documentary about making a tunnel.
(mp) A documentary, you say.
(Mari) People fight with stone in the dark. Isn’t it wonderful?
(mp) I don’t know a thing about it but I think it’s quite for your taste.
(Mari) It’ll start soon.
(mp) OK. I’ll get some refreshments. You can go take a seat.
What will you drink?
(Mari) Your blood…
(mp) Eh?
(Mari) It’s a joke…I’d like hot tea. Black tea.
(mp) O-OK.
(mp)(her joke gave me shivers, you know…)
-
*awful snoring*

(mp) It was interesting.
(Mari) But you slept away the whole movie.
(mp) Oh… did I?
(mp)(don’t get me wrong…it was one long tunnel and nothing more during the whole movie…)
(Mari) But nobody bothered us and I could enjoy the movie.
(mp) Yeah, there was no one beside us.
(Mari) If you weren’t snoring so badly I could enjoy it more.
(mp) I’m sorry…
(Mari) Watch yourself next time.
(mp) By the way, Mari-chan. You put some perfume today.
(mp) It smelled so good.
(Mari) Yeah. I prepared it myself.
(TL NOTE. Bad influence? Mio is to blame)

(mp) Really?
(Mari) But I won’t tell you the ingredients. It’s a secret.
(mp) I fear to ask.
(Mari) That’s wise of you.
(mp) You don’t use perfume at the club.
(Mari) Well, sometimes I feel like it.
You don’t like the smell?
(mp) No, it’s quite the opposite.
(Mari) That’s good then.
(mp) Did you use it for me?
(Mari) Ahem.
(mp)(look at this romantic atmosphere…)
(mp)(Yes! I absolutely have to…)
(mp) Mari-chan.
You have an eyelash on your face.
(Mari) Where is it?
(mp) I’ll pick it.
(mp) But please come a little closer and close your eyes.
(Mari) OK.
(mp)(Mari-chan is right in front of me. I have to kiss her…)

(in lips)

(Mari) What was it?
(mp) I’ve just…kissed you.
(Mari) Do you know what it means?
(mp) Er…what could it mean?
(Mari) It means you’ve sealed a contract.
(mp) A contract?
(Mari) Don’t worry. You’ll be fine.
(mp) I’ll be fine, you say…
(Mari) That’s a deal! Perfect!
(mp)(now she really gave me shivers. I want to run away as fast as I can…)
(mp)(but on the other hand, Mari-chan didn’t tell me to go to blazes, to the contrary…)
(mp)(can I consider myself lucky?)
-
(mp) I really enjoyed our time today.
(Mari) Yeah, it was a big fun.
(mp) OK, see you.
(Mari) Anytime.

No Dream Club today because we’re broke.

We have to find some job again.
-
Saturday, July 28.

Today is a cosplay day.

Mari is a cheer-girl.

(mp) You’re in a cheerleader costume today.
(Mari) They say it’s for the summer season meaning that there’s a baseball championship among high schoolers.
(mp) Ah, I get it. You’re in the first-base rooting section.
(mp) So it’s the school championship.
When I was younger, so much younger than today…
(Mari) I have absolutely nothing to do with all this baseball and youth championships.
(mp) Hahaha…
(mp) Honestly, your costume gives an unusual feel.
(mp) I should say it looks great on you.
(Mari) I usually don’t root for people.
(mp) Then try to root for me.
(Mari) No, I’ll pass.
(Mari) I’m not a person who’d waste her effort to support somebody.
(mp) OK, then let me root for you.
(mp) Mari-chan, hold on! You can make it!
Go for it, Mari-chan!
(Mari) It’s noisy…
Now I lost the last desire to do anything…
(Mari) Anything at all…
(mp)(it looks like I overdid it…)
-
(extension)

(Mari) I finished writing the song.
I’ll give you the scores later.
(mp) The scores?
But it’s your brother who sings, isn’t it?
(Mari) I wrote this song specially for our duet.
So please, take it.
(mp) OK, it’ll be a memento of you.
(mp) I don’t read notes anyways.
I can read the lyrics and that’s all.

(TL NOTE. He should’ve learnt solfeggio)

(Mari) I’m working on a demo.
I’ll give it to you when it’s done.
(mp) OK, I’ll take it as a memento as well.
(mp) Say hello to your brother for me.
(Mari) I think he’ll be happy.
(mp)(she’s so happy when she talks about her brother…)
(mp)(it’s clear she’s happy because she can sing with her brother)

Dream Club

(Mari) I decided…to give a live performance.

(Mari) A friend of Mio’s manages a live house (aka night club).
(Mari) They have a gap in their schedule.
(mp) Mari-chan, you’re friends with Mio-chan?
(Mari) It looks like she’s a fan of Bloody Maririn.
(Mari) She attends my concerts from time to time.
(mp) I see. I didn’t know a thing about it.
(mp)(it would be nice to ask Mio-chan, maybe she knows about this brother of Mari’s)
(mp) Ok, tell me, what’s your program?
I’ll go listen to you.
(Mari) You’ll sing with me.
So your place is on the stage.
(mp) Why me?
Where’s your brother?
(Mari) It’ll be a trio.
(mp) But if your brother is there what do you want from me?
(Mari) He returned into my heart.
(mp) What do you mean?
(Mari) I told you…
(mp)(she told me but I didn’t get a damn thing about it…)
-
(time is up)
-
(seeing off)

(Mari) Maybe I’ll see you in my dream tonight.
Or most likely, it’ll be your corpse.
(Mari) Good night, sleep tight.
(mp) I’m glad but I’d love it if you saw me alive.
(Mari) If you stay alive come to me.
OK, see you.
-
Monday, August 13.

Mari’s writing. She says the audience should be quite big.

But for now we’re working in a supermarket. 22 thousand a week.

Saturday, August 18.

Dream Club.

Hello! See who’s here.

(Mio) Good evening, I’m Mio.
I came in place of Mari-chan.

(Mio) Please keep me company till Mari comes.
(mp) OK, with pleasure.
(Mio) By the way, mp-han, you often talk to Mari, right?
(mp) Well, yes, I talk to her.
But I’m going crazy over her words.
(mp) If only her brother…
(Mio) Her brother?
Mari-chan’s brother?
(mp) Yeah.
(mp) It looks like he came back from warm countries.
(Mio) Did he?
(Mio) She said he’s away traveling and he’s not going to return any time soon.
(Mio) And then, lately Mari-chan…
(Mio) She said she got a postcard from her brother.
(Mio) But how could he come back home?
(mp)(I have the same question. I wonder if he did come back)
(Mio) Oh, Mari-chan’s here.
OK, have fun, both of you.
(mp) Mio-chan, see you again.
-
(Mari comes)

(Mari) Good evening, mp.
It’s time to drink.

(Mari) You know, I can’t eat meat.
I get sick from the mere smell of it.
(Mari) And what about you, do you eat meat?
(mp) I’m bad at living things. I don’t eat meat or fish.
(mp) Especially if the meat is fat.
And I can hardly stand the smell of fish.
(Mari) I can’t eat fish either. I agree with you here.
(mp) It’s quite rare when a person eats neither meat nor fish. Usually it’s either this or that.
So I’m glad we met.
(Mari) It looks like we choose food judging from its smell rather than taste.
(mp) That’s interesting.
(mp) Like cats, they smell food before tasting it.
-
ETS.

(mp) Say, Mio-chan has told me…
(mp) That your brother is actually still away.
(mp) Why did you lie to me then?
(Mari) It wasn’t a lie.
My brother’s soul came with his postcard.
(Mari) And now I can come to the stage because I feel him near me.
(Mari) And I can go on singing.
(mp) So it was just a postcard and you said your brother was back.
(mp) It’s weird.
(Mari) It’s not weird at all.
(Mari) My brother worries about me wherever he is.
(Mari) I’m happy just for that. I don’t ask much.
(mp) Mari-chan…
(mp)(it looks like her brother is really important to her…)
(mp)(and she’ll always love him more than me…)
