Okay, I think I found out HOW to make that special event show up.
You remember how I said I had 13 pieces of paper and yet I had no idea what to do with them?
I got bored and popped one.
It opens up an A1 ranked event. I'll stream this one, cause Leon's back, she's angry, and she's somewhat ticked off.

Switch as often as necessary to do their rank up festivals. As team members, they gain fans like your main, just at a slower rate.
Depending on how close to the edge you like playing (Me personally, I like taking things all the way to the last note, so I'm prone to doing things like fielding D3s at an A3, but don't unless you really know what you're doing and you have a very good internal timer) you'll naturally switch to give the other idols a leg up.
The ideal way to play the game goes like this:
- Pick a main idol
- Pick your second and third, and keep taking them along.
- Level up 1 idol (Your main most likely) through the rankup system until you're finding that you're struggling or you don't like how close you're cutting it.
- Switch to the other idol/s and get them a leg up, ranking them as far as you can take them. Since you have one idol (or more) past the sub ranks, you can use them to help you get through their rankup FESes.
- Their skills and stats powering up should allow your main idol to go further when they take your newly ranked up supports, since you earn SP for every rank you go up.
(For absolute optimisation, you want to always combo, always have all lessons at perfect and brought with you and try to get your idols to skip 1 full rank at a time (The most you can jump is 3 steps, or 1 full rank.) but that depends how good you are mechanically, and how much of a hurry you're in.)
Oh, and for those curious, the max level is 35, and at A1 + Level 35, you'll max out your grid with 0sp to spare. You also gain dance/visual/vocal stats on every level up, so if you want to go all out long term, you'd probably want 'Raise exp' from the 765 instructions menu, grab the exp up charms, and constantly have it equipped.
And yes, I'll post a correction - You CAN in fact unlock Acceleration.
To do so:
You must win your IE event with at least one idol.
As part of winning the IE, Leon will swing by, and give you a item. I'm guessing it's a challenge notice.
You'll then need to go to your equip menu, and then select and use the item. It'll say USED on the item.
Exit to the activities menu, then you'll find a new A1 has been listed.
It's a festival, held at the IE stage.
Be warned, she'll score at least 70000 points in a head to head. She's dangerous, so you better be very well prepared. Me? I burst her into oblivion with a 108k score.
At the end of the day, you will receive the Acceleration single. Basically, the only thing you can do is change the stage, control the camera angles, and use her appeal and burst.
Beating that stage will also net you a trophy, and with all 13 IEs, you SHOULD Platinum with it.

Aw... I was still waiting for an ACM trio version to show up. Guess I'll just deal with my Makoto solo for now...

I noticed something neat but in one of the environments, a book store, theres a poster on a shelf hat has a silhouette on long haired Azusa on it. I noticed it during a Yayoi commu specifically but I'm sure it shows up elsewhere.
