Haven't gone to bed, but to be honest...

I'm not entirely sure if a communications walkthrough would benefit a player very much. An explanation on how to do each lesson can't hurt, and FES combat theory would go a long way. I can also see theory concerning scoring optimally in auditions helping too.

But communications? They don't actually help that much since strangely enough, you don't get appeals that fast anyway. You're left to do without for a very long time, perfect communications or not, and you'll get enough to work with to do what you need to do.

Surprisingly, FES combat theory hasn't evolved TOO much since im@s 2 (the changes that have happened are for the better, and I like the whole 'the AI isn't a cheating SoB bursting with an empty bar' angle I've seen so far) and scoring solo is a lot more straightforward (if you can throw a burst down 3 times, do so, if not don't try to use memory to speed things up, although using it to pad up your multipliers is nice. Also, remember to throw down your last burst at note 0, not note 1)

The one thing that will determine how well you progress is simply how well you can hold your combos or for a lack of a better term, your mechanical skill in regards with timing. For im@s L4U players, (or Project Diva ones) this will be a walk in the park. im@s 2 players should be okay too, if you ever played the insanely hard FESes or auditions.

I'll comment more as I plough through the game, I guess.

I'm not sure what information I should give as I blend my way through though. What sort of help do people need?

My question is, does tension/character play a large part in producing? Additionally, is it hard to juggle 13 idols at once? I'm awful with multitasking in games.

(Mobile so excuse the lack of quoting)

I agree that commu guides are fairly useless, but for the sake of completion, I think keeping track of them is good. Most of the useful information would be game data; stuff about the songs, accessories, skill boards, rival burst skills, etc. since they're good to reference and anyone who might want to try to do some sort of min-maxing.

As for running multiple idols, you really only actively produce 1-3 idols each week (the three you take to the job). The game wants you to slowly work them all up in rank I think. Based on the all stars alone, it wants you to play for two game years at least. So... It's pretty easy.

I found out from 4chan that if you fail to achieve two seasonal goals in a row you're locked out of producing your main idol until you manage to complete another one, so beware

Fortunately, the season goals I've gotten so far don't seem to be too hard. I got "Earn 3000 money" first, then something to do with either earning or spending 3 skill points (probably the former), and my current goal looks like it has something to do with winning 3 Fes events.

Seems like after you hit the initial goal, you can get a bonus as well if you keep going and hit the second goal (always an upgraded version of that season's goal, and what you got before counts towards it). I missed that the first time around, but the second time I earned 5 skill points instead of 3, and I got a bonus 6000 money.

did anyone figure out if slow songs are still so harshly penalized in terms of scoring or did they fix this issue?

Tonari ni got sped up so badly, you think ti offbeat.

DREAM seems ot have a higher score rate.

I don't really have any super slow songs in mind, but it seems like they fix the issue.

so far none of the seasonal goals are really hard, but the Year 2 Autumn is a killer if you don't know how to score, as seasonal goal is to score 24000 to pass, 32000 to exceed. When doing that one in particular, it best to do in an audition that gives x1.5 or x2.0 on your best stat.

I manage to do without it, but i just barely got it (32001)

To be totally honest, the only reason I could see this happening for is if you can't understand what the request is/can't figure out what it is. I think I should probably add the Japanese for each of the season goals to the wiki for this (with the translation under them) since then you can just match the characters to make sure you have the right goal. The majority of them seem pretty easy so.

... Slowly?

I've been making my idols skip entire ranks apart from the current playthrough's Azusa who's been doing the hard climbing. She's the one clawing her way up each step, but everyone else has been jumping from E3 to D3 to C3.

But I do crazy things like take underpowered teams to events a rank (not a step) or two higher when I'm not supposed to and somehow walking out with wins.

On a really fair note, the game is mostly balanced, and most of the time, you shouldn't actually be doing either of what I describe, since the theory goes that you shouldn't be scoring every single scoring bonus under the sun as a matter of routine. Most of the time, you shouldn't be picking fights with anything above your rank.

It's those bonuses (2000 for completion, 200 for every burst, and I think +200 for every 10 or 20 hits in a combo) that let you play in leagues higher than your idol allows.

------

And I must be the only person who finds it amusing that Tonari ni... is the slowest song by bpm, but is actually the fastest song I've run across so far, and even more strangely, it's one of the songs that are perfect for FESes for attack and defense, but that last one is subjective.

I have to postpone the broadcast for an hour (it's 10:30am and normally I'd start by now), since a friend is coming by, and he's going to watch me play all day.

So do you advance another idol by making them the leader? I noticed that my Azusa is E1 right now, but everyone else (just Takane, Chihaya, Ritsuko, and Yukiho right now) is still E3, and I'm not sure how to bring them up.

I mostly mean it in the sense that it's what the game intends for you to do (not skip rank up fes for one thing (side note: do we technically lose possible fans by skipping them? tbh i don't care much since im lazy and it saves time to skip ranks but)). I think it intends for you to work them up one step at a time. And it probably imagines you won't get max chains almost all the time.

All the bonuses are absolutely nuts when you think about it, they make it way easy if you're halfway decent at rhythm games.

So do you advance another idol by making them the leader? I noticed that my Azusa is E1 right now, but everyone else (just Takane, Chihaya, Ritsuko, and Yukiho right now) is still E3, and I'm not sure how to bring them up.
yeah, only the leader gets the rank up from the fes (you'll notice how she's the only one who shows at the end of day report and on the job label thingy on the menu). you have to switch leaders around to get others up. in case you're not sure which it is, go under Idol, select the girl you wanna switch to, and then hit the third option.

As additional notes:

Any idols that come with you for an activity gain 50% of the total fan base of the lead.

So the tactic I've been abusing (to great effect) is:

- Make one idol carry the entire team (Azusa is NOT that strong for this, but I did it cause I couldn't resist a bad joke) and be playing in higher ranked events to improve that 50% gain

- You still need the other idols to qualify for the fan minimum for the rank you want to get into.

So to jump a rank, (say E3 to D3) you need 25000 fans on your idol.
