I miss relations as well (and Do-Dai a little, though not so much), but I'm otherwise happy with the song list for the most part. I get the feeling they just needed reasons to reuse footage from Shiny Festa (though when why DREAM?).
I haven't gotten far enough to run into Leon or 961, so not much to say to those questions, Metal.

So far, I think I like this game a bit more than iM@S2, in that doing things, once you actually figure out how to, is not NEARLY so tedious as it once were. (It probably also helps you can do more than one or two things at any given period.) Getting high idol rank though, THAT looks as if it'll be a pain.

I'll give a bit of information based on the bit that I've played so far; I'm still at E3 idol rank. My Japanese knowledge is minimal, so I may have missed things others could tell right off the bat.
All the basic costumes (that is, the six that come with the game from the start) add +10 to just one stat (Floral-Vocal, Luxury-Dance, Starry-Visual).
Flowerish Flowery, if you have access to it, adds +10 to Dance and Vocal each.
I haven't unlocked/downloaded any other costumes yet at this time; I have not checked the stat boosts on accessories too closely at the moment.
On performance gameplay -
Ritsuko's Burst is 5 Vocal/2 Visual/3 Dance - if they cut off last appeals for very slow songs, she'd lose her fifth vocal appeal.
Iori and Chihaya's appear to be as they were in iM@S2 PS3. (As these were the three I chose, I can't speak a whole lot on the others.)
I find that, in general, gameplay is A LOT more fast-paced. If you're used to having a small "breather" point after your memory appeals, you should probably start getting used to NOT having one, lest you wish to lose chain bonus. (Yet I find there's a small breather before burst appeals. Hm. Burst appeals are also much much shinier than in 2, too, if you're a person who likes or hates that sort of thing.)
There's no Danketsu/Unity Score (at least something apparent, anyway), so it seems like burst scores are directly based upon your unit's stats. I noticed that despite a high multiplier on Visual while using Iori's Burst, her Visual bonuses were really low - I hadn't yet done lessons, and Chihaya/Ritsuko are not particularly known for high Visuals. I question the effectiveness of using a dual-stat setup in this game due to that...

Festivals... I haven't yet figured them out, so I can't say a lot about them at this point. Duo and trio appeals seem to be Skills, though, if I'm to believe the idol skill board.

EDIT: ...should we actually start working on making a gameplay-focused thread?

i was looking through the dlc and i was wondering what exactly is that 300 yen mail dlc all about? i also see theres some package deal for it, but is it just text and a pic? cuz i cant read any of that so itd be pointless to pick up especially when the listing shows the picture of the idol and the text if you could read it anyway so im confused about that haha.

when i went to download the free costume and dream i noticed they are both 100 kb, so is ranko which leads me to believe theyre all on disc dlc and youre just paying to unlock them, which is nasty imo :/

edit: actually since you have to download the catalog i guess the data could be in there so nvm lol

The mail DLC has that idol send you mails, usually after a certain story event as well as other occasions. If you can read them then it'd be good to get them, but if you can't probably not. Although sometimes they'll send you pictures too.

Scotty, man. Just... Scotty, I can't get over how adorable that Miki avatar is. Really, it's just... OOOMMM.

EDIT: ...should we actually start working on making a gameplay-focused thread?

Given by how much you've sunk your teeth into this aspect in addition to other people, that would be prudent. This topic might as well be the introductory one. :3

How data works for ALL im@s DLC (They've done this for years, and is not actually a im@s specific design decision):

You MUST download the Catalog for any of the license unlock files to be used.

The catalog itself is ALWAYS free.

Each item is 100kb, and is just the code license to use the item from the catalog package.

It's one of those 'It's not broke, so why fix it?' scenarios.

All the data is now kept off the disc for catalog 1, because of the bad PR they got over doing release codes for Soulcalibur 4 where data was kept on disc.

So now we're forced to download the initial data to unlock it all instead, then get the license codes. It kept the complaints to a minimum, I guess...

-----

I'm also very glad that the forum was created, since I've had the time to...

Oh wait, that would be telling.

Anyway, if you like the idols sending mail to you, the mail DLC is fun.

The MAIN reason you'd want to pick them up though is the fact they count towards the Catalog Complete unlock item, assuming it worked similar to im@s 2.

For those unfamiliar with how im@s works, basically it's a 'You buy out a catalog, you get an accessory or item for free and it's exclusive' deal.

Sometimes they don't even mention its existence, so tracking them can be annoying.

Nothing represents love better than Miki and Onigiri consumption.

I'm not sure if this was already covered, but what exactly is the difference between the digital version and the iM@S Channel version?

No difference, if you buy one you get both the versions.

Apparently there's a new Haruka song (with an all-star version) on OFA disk. There are links in the 4chan /@/ thread, but I guess I can't post the links. Haven't watched/heard it yet, so I have no idea if it's true and what's inside.

Or is it that "Destiny"? Not sure if people have already unlocked it - it was in the credits IIRC? Guess that's how it is with leaks...

Yeah I heard about those on-disk songs too. Destiny was only ever sung by Azusa's VA so the Haruka song might be a different one, assuming this destiny and the previously sang one are the same song.

I know it will be a while before it actually happens due to the game just coming out, but will there be any plans on making a wiki for One For all? Like the one for Idolm@ster 2?
I'd have to say that I'm a new Fangirl for Hokuto Ijuiin and I'm proud of it!!!

finally got my copy today (regular edition because poor/saving money for dlc)

anyone else notice the birthday markerboard designs in the background that change depending on the in-game week? so far I saw Yayoi's and Haruka's, it's a really cute touch owo

as an aside, I'm minorly bothered by how the game has the proper button set-up for a JP game, unlike iM@S2 where the X/O config depended on your console. It really fucks me up how the text input things are console-based for their X/O but the game itself is JPN set-up for X/O. @-@
