It's just a historical note about how DLC is traditionally run for im@s games.

Based of historical pricing:

DLC songs are usually 1800 each

Each Extend costume type is 1500
Each non-Extend costume 1000
Each accessory is usually 300 yen each
Each accessory pack is 980 yen each

Each other game accessory item is from memory 1000 yen for the bundle, but don't quote me on the last one.

All items need to be grabbed to unlock the DLC item complete pack, except the in game money, which I always ignore in the calculations.

So from what I (and now, everyone else) knows about DLC catalog 1:

1x1800 + 2x 1500 + 1x 1000 + 980 + 1000

= 6880 + 1 item which may be promotional, so the price isn't known. It may be free.

Should note that Ranko is bundled with one of the DLC costumes - For those who don't know, Ranko's costume can be worn by all the 765 cast.

It remains to be seen how many costumes Ranko can wear, or how many songs she can sing out of the 765 repertoire. G4U was a separate mode, which only gave access limited access to extend only costumes for the 876 crew.

If that promotional is a limited time free thing, the final price before discounting (usually reserved 2 years after a game's release) after the free period will be 7880 yen.

Which if I recall correctly more than the actual game itself.

Of course, the pricing isn't formal yet (Since I'm working off a prototype sheet) but that should explain my note about how expensive it is.

And people don't believe me when I say that the game isn't very expensive compared to the upkeep costs, and that if they wanted to save money, they'd be better off considering a cheaper hobby.

Nor do people believe me when I tell them that DLC makes up a significant amount of NBGI's im@s revenue either, more than the game itself.

they made it even more expensive? i was going to get that version but considering id have to get like a 10000 yen points card to purchase it i figured i might as well get the limited edition set for a couple more bucks lol
It's was ¥7600 (same as the standard edition retail price), but now it's ¥8208 but discounted to ¥7650 until 7/30 instead: - http://ofa.idolmaster.jp/spec/

And yeah, I've spent over ¥25000 on IMAS2 DLC and that's after waiting for the sales T_T

He's lucky. He got to pick what he wanted.

I hope you're sitting down for this next revelation.

I can confirm I spent over 120000 yen (18 catalogs worth) for im@s 2, but that was for compendium building reasons.

When I said that im@s makes more money off the DLC than the base game, I really, REALLY, REALLY was not kidding.

Actually no I didn't. I was going through my spreadsheet and misread the number, that was the total spent on the JPN PSN.
To save you the conversion and taking into account the psn card prices at that time, I've spent CDN$850+

Well, that strikes them off the trustworthy list right there. The last one's relatively benign. The first two? You might as well ask me if I wanted to jump into a fire, but you know, understanding privacy and stuff.

Holy moley those prices!

I might end up doing some comission service or something. All proceeds will go directly to DLC, of course.

I should mention that Nippon-Yasan, Japan-codes, and Play-Asia do sell PSN codes for about the same price after factoring conversions. Play-Asia even allows usage of their coupon codes, so they're technically the cheapest, not to mention they have instant digital delivery now.

all those places youre paying like 37.99 to 38.99 for 3000 yen but solaris its about 34
im not telling people where to shop but im just saying me personally i rather save every last dollar i can
if you could get a coupon i guess play asia would be the best if it shaved off like 9 bucks but otherwise id rather save money than get a code a lil faster at play asia

yea but from what i saw setsuna said for first time users.

That pretty much kills privacy.

I would rather pay the extra 4-5$ than losing my ID to some random site i got recommended to just for a few dollar cheaper when i been using japan-code for years.

Speaking of Japan-Codes, does anyone know when they're actually going to restock on 500 JYN cards, if at all?

Those would be so useful for change...

Also huzzah, 100 posts! :3

Well, it is for speeding things up according to what setsuna wrote. I ordered a code there now, i'll let you guys know whether they want any form of identification.

I noticed one thing though: Setunas quote "using your Facebook email address" made me wary and i tested it, you can really look up people in FB by their e-mail address by default. I just changed this setting now. So they had about 2 hours time to look me up in FB by using my mail address.
