I agree. The series has done this THREE times already (Hibiki, Yumeko, and Touma) and its starting to get old. I wouldn't mind 961Pro returning just to give the plot some proper conflict.

They revealed a new rival, named Reon. But unfortunately that's all they've revealed at this point.

It may just be the hairstyle, but "Leon" is reminding me way too much of Mai Hidaka...

that reminds me: do we even know who our main rival will be in this game? I mean, who takes the place of Project Fairy/Jupiter? Or is it still Jupiter?

You bring up a good point... The only rivals I've heard of actually for sure being in the game are the 876 trio, the Cinderella Girls, and the ML idols. No word on Jupiter or SM kinda worries me. "Leon" just complicates things, but at least she'll probably get a good reception...

My first thought upon seeing her was "she looks a lot like Yumeko...". I'm hoping too she doesn't end up being the stereotypical Jerk Rival as well.

I don't think Jupiter has been announced yet... I'm not even a huge fan but I hope they do show up.

Regarding all this rivalry stuff, I kinda hope that, with 876 having been confirmed as in-game rivals (or at least Ai and Ryo, but we KNOW Eri's gonna come with), they may get to be a part of the actual story in some form.
inb4 it's still just going to be 961 who is doing the exact same thing as they did in the last two games...

*is also liking the design for this new rival* It's nice to have an older-looking character who has more of a seductress' design to it (well, judging from this appearance, at least). I wouldn't be surprised if we get another Miki though (in the age-doesn't-quite-line-up-with-appearance department).

Despite being a female idol, Makoto's popularity with females only increases, causing her to hesitate on how to be an idol. But when she gets a fan letter from someone who deeply understands her, will her situation head in a direction she never considered...?!

My prediction is that rivals will be like Dearly Stars, where each idol's story has unique rivals. For example, Ryou had Yumeko and Eri had... more of a series of rivals, like Cineria and Miki. Maybe in OFA some idols will share rivals, since having 13 different rivals would be kind of extravagant.

She gives off this vibe from a rival group before 961Pro was a thing. You know, from that one manga. I forget the details, but whatever. I like her. Hoping for more new characters that weren't brought up from failed games or mobile crap.

In any case, while I'm here, I like Reon's design a lot, actually. I can wait to get my hands on this game when it comes out. Who needs to know what's going on, I'll love it anyways,

A lot of Japanese fans have brought up the Maoh Angel-ish ness of her design, yeah.

There are also theories that she doesn't actually have heterochromia and is using contacts, and then there are the more "out there" theories, like she's actually a guy.

Yeah, Maoh Angel. Them. I've always thought it would be neat for them to appear. They've got a better character design going for them than most of these newish idols.

I'd be willing to bet it's contacts, but she never ends up taking it off, just mentioned along the story.

Maoh Angel has been around since the Arcade games, I think? I know even in Idolmaster 2, they appeared in the rankings. It'd be cool to see them again.
