So, individualized costumes are confirmed not to return and everyone wears the exact same thing.

That's... Pretty lazy.

Not to question you, but are you sure about that? It doesn't really strike me as logical to list the names of the outfit parts as though there were more than just those shown in the videos the way they did if there weren't more to be added.

Ohh, wait nevermind. I thought you were saying there was only one outfit available throughout the whole game... My bad.
Weren't group outfits how it was done in Idolm@ster 2, though?

What will I paint on the pure-white tomorrow that spreads to its limit?
What will I paint on the tomorrow dyed pitch-black by reality?

So, any info on how the idol selection will go yet? As in, how many we'll be able to produce at once/how many can make up a unit at any time.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the game seems similar to One for All in this aspect.  So, you'll be able to produce all of them, so you can select any idols/unit you wish to use anytime you want.

Here's more specific info from the PV.

Wasn't that the way it was in Idolm@ster 2, though?

Actually, you can buy outfits and accessories in that game.  And, of course, there's DLC costumes/accessories as well.

Kinda sad that there is no extend to be seen yet, I mean in the 4 tabs, also I liked that you could have different Idols wear different costumes on stage. that they got rid of it annoys me

I get the feeling that they've placed it behind a game complete option again though. They didn't show the multi costume on stage capablity until very late, from memory.

That's true, but one of the things that caught my eye is how even the default costumes all are the same. The previous outfits still were different per idol while fitting the overall theme and color scheme.

I do like the new song though, reminds me a lot of Machiuke prince. I hope someone will make a compilation video with all the "AISHITERU ZE"s after release.

Also if you compare the preview images from the official site there's definitely noticable lighting changes reflected on the idols (compare Azusa in white light to Iori in pink light)

Hold onto your hats boys and girls, lest they fly away, at any point:

http://platinum-stars.idolmaster.jp/special/lawson.php

You can probably guess what's going on (a similar promotion happened in OfA) and of course for crazy people like me (apparently) I'll need some help what's required, as well as an escrow to handle what's required.

Same deal as last time - I'll make it worth your time if you can assist.

My God, that chicken hat is adorable... and it makes the procurement process that much more nauseating.
Suddenly, bow-wow-wow~. :3

This might have been discussed already, but just out of curiosity, how do they explain Ritsuko being an idol again? Does Platinum Stars take place before or after iDOLM@STER 2? Or is it just some type of slightly-altered reality?

Sorry if this was already touched on and I just didn't see it.

Far as I can tell, each Im@s game has no continuity with any other game. It'll probably be the same for this one, too.
Cael's Im@s Ranking: Azusa, Yumeko, Tomomi, Haruka

Hm, okay. I was wondering how that was with PS still being second vision and all, but if you think they have nothing to do with each other, well alright. So it'd be slightly-altered then.

Cael is right.  Each game, manga, animes, certain dramas, etc. have nothing to do with each other.  So, Platinum Stars (just like Idolm@ster 1 and One for All) takes place in a different continuity than Idolm@ster 2 where there is no Ryuguu Komachi.

There are a few exceptions like the anime and Movie taking place in the same universe.

In most iteration of 765pro, they start off as rookies idols who work their way up to top idol.  But, the setup and perspective in each is slightly altered.

The foundation in all of the iterations is usually the same with the characters and their general story, personality, and character interactions.  However, each iteration usually has a different producer, different rivals, slightly altered idol story, slightly different character interactions, etc.

It's basically the story of 765pro that gets retold.

Second vision (one way to put it) was mainly a 765pro reset (adding new members, age changes, hair styles, etc).  So, it set a new foundation for future iterations.

Even within second vision we already had 3 universes:
Dearly Stars, Im@s 2 and one for all, Ritsuko was only once a producer

Right, as said previously, Platinum Stars is just another reset of the story.

I'm personally not a fan of this anymore. I get it's the point of the series to raise your idols to the top, but it also means they've been telling the exact same story for ten years with the same characters. Chihaya's dead brother and warming up to people, Yukiho being scared and trying to get away from that, Azusa trying to find love, etc. They may be told slightly differently with different events, but the overall plot is the same every single time.

I feel at some point there's gotta be a brand new generation of 765 idols with the originals appearing older and as mentors to the newbies. That way, it can give something fresh and new to the story while still keeping the original girls for fanservice.
