Chihaya P's can get chewed out by her all over again.

I wouldn't say she's that mean.  Most of the time she's just not very open towards you, which changes over time.  I mean, the few times you get scolded is because she cares about you.  For instance, in Im@s 1, she gets upset that you're eating instant ramen since that isn't good for your health.  Also, in Im@s 2 ending, she gets upset you didn't visit her first when you came back from America (I mean any lover would be upset about that).

There are bad communications, but every idol chews you out for it.

I would say the mean one would be Iori (she constantly refers you to as "Anta") and always yells out you.

Well, I also didn't mean it in a bad way, but uh... that first time seeing Chihaya is typically kinda awkward, to say the least? So like, since the Producer is meeting her for the first time in Platinum Stars, all you Chihaya P's can relive those wonderful memories of that first conversation with her again.

... Cold and slightly standoffish comments included. But that's what's good about them?

Ah, okay.  That's a little more accurate.  I know you were just reporting what the article said.  It's no problem.  Sorry, about that.

But, yeah.  That first communication is awkward because she's not very open (doesn't trust you which sometimes comes off as a little cold) and just wants to keep the relationship professional.  (Also, maybe a little stubborn since all she wants to do is improve on singing).

It's just "chewed out" is sometimes interpreted as like an angry boss would insult and lecture you for making a mistake.  Which is something she doesn't do at all even in the first communication.

Asia community for iM@S must be pretty big to get that great of a reaction. It's like Melee's E3 reveal all over again. :P

Something vaguely interesting I noticed, but I wasn't sure how relevant it is...

Crappy screenshot grabbed from the PV...

And a Famitsu screenshot.

Exact same costume, drastically different colorways.

If I had to wager a guess, I almost want to say that PS might have something like the Sims 3 had where you can change the colors of an outfit without changing the design. That would explain why we've seen that same "cool" outfit but in like three different colors. Of course, this is me desperately wanting them to not get rid of the unique Floral/Luxury/Starry and Cute/Cool/Cosmic thing they've been doing. It'd really be a shame if they got rid of unique designs for each idol lol

Nah, it was the same with imas 2 and ofa.
Each recolored costume is like 800 yen. There were tons of recolors for basic outfits.

I just had a really dumb thought.

I know the games had puns or play on words during communications.  So, does that mean they would have to take it out when translating to Chinese or Korean?

I was thinking because there’s several communications with Chihaya using puns.  Also, I recall Miki likes using her last name as puns since her last name means “star” and it could also mean “I want” (or something like that).

Not saying this is an issue, but just something I was thinking in the back of my mind.

that's an issue with pretty much every game translation. Often the translators try to come up with their own puns in these moments.

I was thinking the same thing too.  Some puns wouldn't work (if there's no offered explanation), so they'll have to change what the characters are actually saying during those lines.  Not saying it's an issue, just something I was thinking about.

(Personally,  I would like it if there's like a pop-up message/footnote to explain certain puns/jokes because it just interesting to know what the characters are actually saying.  I know the average person doesn't care about JP puns/jokes, and there's nothing wrong in that.  It just one of those things everyone has their own personal taste.)

Off Topic:

Sort of an example what I was talking about.  This is from the Kirby anime.  King Dedede is responding to the chef who just said "Qui, Cava" (in French).  When they explained the pun, it actually was pretty funny.

I really HATE when jokes are translated (or rather, not translated) like that, especially in an official localization.

What? You don't want to read a paragraph of explanation for a joke that was like 5 words in Japanese? What's wrong with you?

All joking aside at least it's not like this old chestnut. Someone actually thought that was a good idea.

I'm a big fan of translations that keep the nuance of the original but make it make sense to an American viewer. That's the point of localization. It's localization, not keep it foreign for "accuracy" ization. I kind of want to edit the translations for ROMANTIC NOW and addicted on the wiki to keep the rhyme scheme of the originals but I don't have the creativity lol

Since there hasn't been news in a while, what are your wishes for PS?

1) Customizable hairstyles. I've said this before, but it's kind of sad that Dream Club had them years ago and we don't lol
2) Group and new solo versions of the MA3 songs. In particular I want a Hibiki version of Nostalgia. Or Takane with Koi Kokoro. Also I think Ritsuko and Azusa would sound great on Futatsu no Tsuki. And a Futami version of Pon de Beach and-
3) Please don't get rid of customized outfits... Namco, I'm begging you... Please...
4) 876. There, I said it.

All joking aside at least it's not like this old chestnut. Someone actually thought that was a good idea.

I typically don't like TL notes fudging up what I see on the screen (and sometimes explaining painfully obvious stuff, or stuff that I don't even care about), and would rather the translator be creative. If it's really important, is it too much to put all that stuff in a screen or two at the end of the episode?

Since there hasn't been news in a while, what are your wishes for PS?

Yes to hairstyles, as long as it includes long haired Azusa. I will never switch back.
Yes to 876Pro, Mai, and Leon. I also wanna see Yumeko, Ozaki, and Cineria... though mainly I wanna see Yumeko. Even if she were DLC, I'd totally make the plunge.
At least as many new songs as there are playable idols, no unlocks needed. The song list in Im@s 2 was a little disappointing, to say the least.
And uh... I wouldn't mind a full-blown ML idol produce, even if each idol is DLC. Same for CG idols.
Kotori produce? EX episode? It can just be her daydreaming, but as long as it's playable...
