Major dissection coming up...

- So based on the PV and the Haruka costume change page here, I'm getting a better impression of how the mechanics are changed this time around. Seems your outfit determines your image and type. Image in this case MAY be based on CG, since the two I see are Cute and Cool. Type is unknown right now, but both sources I've seen are Idol type, so I guess there are some costumes that deviate from the norm. Furthermore, the outfit shows an increase in Appeal as well as a skill. I'd wager a guess and say that Cute outfits are Appeal boosters and further guess that Cool and the third image (Passion?) would respectively boost Burst and Omoide. It seems there's something more to the outfits, though, since there's an R3 button prompt on that description.

- Assuming the concert images on the page above are from the same one, the Appeal goes from 90 to 99 after Haruka uses a Memory. Could that be the skill on her costume? And the Results screen below it shows a bunch of OFA staples as well as Ranks for Burst and Omoide. Omoide makes sense since rank can lead to more memories, but I wonder why Burst has one and Appeal doesn't.

- As for work... well, it's basically OFA. Seems that each idol still has their own EXP and fan count, and money is there too of course. But I noticed two things from the PV. One of them is touchpad support on the menu, though I don't know if that's really significant. The second thing is the EX Score. It looks like exceeding an additional score will get you an EX award on certain jobs.

... And that's all I got so far. It really does look better in a PV, too.

As much as I loved the characters and everything, the older im@s models always did kinda give me a uncanny valley feeling quite a bit.. xD;

The girls look soooo gorgeous in this game <3

First, I would like to thank everyone who watched the stream and telling us what happened.  That’s very kind of you all.

I’ve watched the PV several times, and I have my own pros/cons.  This is just my own opinion/speculation.  I understand the game is only 60% completed.

Remember, this is just my opinions (which are wrong sometimes).

Pros

-Better graphics

-Character models look pretty good

-Concerts generally look better (Ex. Lighting, more camera angles, etc.)

-Hair moves more naturally during dances

-Opening song sounds great

-Have camp scenes similar to office scenes in OFA where idols interact with each other in a 3D environment (the camp site)

-Have a level up system similar to OFA (like the EXP and Idol rank), but still distinguishes itself by having Appeal, Burst, Omoide stats with rankings on each stat (except Appeal) instead of the usual Vocal/Visual/Dance stat

-Stage outfits look pretty good (according to yukibro, they may do more than just boost stats)

-They have changed the Rhythm gameplay mechanic to resemble like a real rhythm game, but keeping certain im@s specific elements like memories and likely bursts intact.

Neutral

-I didn’t see Festivals or Auditions in the PV.  Just Lives and Stage for You concerts.  Maybe, I missed it or something.

Cons

-Image type based on CG (Not saying there’s something wrong with cute/cool/passion, but I would prefer vocal/visual/dance since it makes more sense.  Vocal/visual/dance is seen as idol skills/talent while I see cute/cool/passion as just personality types.)

-One on one communication with idol still has 2D background

-Seems like their default casual outfit is their camp training wear (this may limit idol communication places since you wouldn’t go to a mall or a restaurant with your camp training wear.  So, I’m a little worried that communications maybe less emphasized here when compared to concerts.)

Anyways, this game is #1 on my "games to get list".   Can't wait.

EDIT:  I see some you people have changed their avatars.  Cool.

I'd just like to say that waking up at 7am to watch a stream is not worth it. Especially considering that PS itself wasn't shown off until the last 15 minutes. Although having Twitter on another tab did help with the occasional boredom especially with animagic and Scotty's tweets.

Anyway, onto the game itself. It looks so dang pretty. I know some were skeptical about the models alone but I feel seeing them in motion should alleviate some complaints.

I hope to make this my first iM@S game, so I have quite a bit of Japanese to learn in a few months time.

That's good.  But, I really think you should also play the previous games like Im@s 2/OFA just for experience and knowledge.  (Im@s 1 maybe a pipe dream due to expensive region lock xbox 360).

Remember, there will likely be DLC where you could spend much more than the game itself like the previous games.

But, I understand your situation with regards to ownership of PS3/PS4 in your place.

EDIT: The PV song is stuck in my head.  But, it's a good song, so that's okay.

I've dumped the stream for myself.
It's mostly usual funny talk-show, but if you missed it and want to catch-up feel free to dl.

I still like the older models better, but I am okay with the new ones.

I like it! But I'm still worried about the absence of personalized costumes, especially since we've seen that first outfit with three different color palettes already. Getting rid of those just seems odd, especially with OFA's entire solo song and solo costume thing.

Worth it just for that noise that one of the girls makes upon seeing Makoto.

I've watched the pv too many times now and the hype hasn't died down xDD I'm still super excited!!

I'm hoping Extreme Lives will work a bit like All Star Lives and the girls (hopefully all 13) can walk around the stage like that and interact with fans :D Just a thought though ^^

With all those interviews with GamiP regarding a global release, I would love for Platinum Stars to be the first main-series game to receive English subtitles (just like the Sword Art Online games). In fact, it doesn't even have to actually get a release overseas, especially since licensing the voice acting and songs must be extremely pricey; simply adding English subtitles in the Japanese release would be awesome for everyone.

2016 will definitely be an interesting year for iDOLM@STER.
