Haisai~!
« on: February 18, 2013, 12:19:51 am »
Hey, everyone! Glad to be here! I just ordered my copy of iM@S2 (PS3) last week, and I'm eagerly awaiting its arrival! In the meantime, I figured I'd introduce myself and try to find some like-minded folks!

Sadly, I have to admit that my first exposure to the franchise was Xenoglossia. I'd heard good things about iM@S before, but after a few episodes of that I just couldn't keep going. When the "real" anime came out a couple years ago, I decided to give the series another shot and I just fell in love with it. As if the song-and-dance routines weren't good enough, the show managed to make the characters more than just clichés given shape. They felt like real three-dimensional characters, had their own personalities, and even showed actual growth, and I loved every bit of it. But enough gushing; after all, we're all here because we love this franchise, aren't we? So on to the Q&A!

Q: How did you come across this site?
A: Through the wiki. It's been helpful for me to learn about the franchise, and when I found out that there was a community attached to it, I decided to sign up.

Q: Do you play it?
A: Almost. As I said, my copy of iM@S2 is in the mail. I've poked at the SP and DS games, and I loved the heck out of Shiny Festa, but soon I'll be a full-fledged P-san in my own right! :P

Q: Who is your fave idol?
A: Hibiki, easily. I don't think I've heard a single song yet that her voice doesn't work well with, and she's got an energy to her that I find really appealing. Of course, it doesn't hurt that she's got that gorgeous long hair, she's an animal lover, and she's just the right level of tan! :P Really, though, they're all great girls. It's going to be hard to pick my first unit.

That's it for now, I guess, but I do have a question for you guys—specifically the ones who play on the PS3. I created a Japanese PSN account, but what's the best way to get money in there for DLC? I know I can import yen cards from Play-Asia, but there's got to be an easier way, yes?

Welcome to project-imas! I loved the "real" anime too, and I can't wait for the movie! What did you think of episode 16 (Hibiki's episode)? Some think that it wasn't so good (I thought it was alright).

Welcome.

Totally agree with you on Hibiki's voice. She has a great range of genres and can sing pretty much anything.

Welcome!

I think Hibiki might actually have the best singing range of any of the idols. She sounds really good in pretty much anything.

I'm also in the same boat as you in becoming an iM@S fan through the anime. I like it so much that I've seen it 5 times.

Welcome! Hibiki's not my favorite idol (you can tell who is) but I really like her version of shiny smile. I also agree that her range is versatile.

she's just the right level of tan! :P

You could actually say that about Numakura in general. Check her out mimicking Haruka, Iori, Azusa and Ami/Mami.

Welcome to the boards, Morford. For me, the easiest way is ordering PSN cards and getting the code sent through e-mail. I haven't done that in the longest time though... mainly because I don't have Im@s2 PS3. (It's expensive.)
Cael's Im@s Ranking: Azusa, Yumeko, Tomomi, Haruka

I had to go back and rewatch it, and I'll agree that it was alright. Some of the stuff just seemed too heavy-handed and forced to me. Scumbag Director just happened to have a spare dog in case something happened to Inumi? I dunno about that. And while I admit (reluctantly) that Hibiki isn't exactly the brightest of the 13, I think she'd have the common sense to double-check with her producer before hopping in a car by herself, especially since he'd just told her to be on her toes.

Eh, can't complain too much, since Hibiki got her own episode and we got Brand New Day! out of it. But it definitely could have been done better.

She sounds just like Haruka. That's pretty amazing.
