Next up with what Pokémon Solar has in terms of Trainers is how your rivals' teams have changed. First up is Richelle, who still only appears if you're playing as the male character. One big difference with your rivals is that this time, rather then receiving Tepig, Oshawott, or Snivy, they have received either Chimchar, Piplup, or Turtwig.
Also, your rival serves as a Tag Battle partner a second time in Solar and the expansions. Here's where that occurs:
Tag Partner 2: Teams up with you to fight Carina and Haruna in a Double Battle at the Battle Frontier. Note that in the expansions, their lineup consists of the Pokémon they have in Flora/Azure rather than in Solar.
