idolm@ster is really popular in miku miku dance and it's the 2nd bigest models made (first are the vocaloids), there are some from im@s 2 and a lot from im@s 1. Hope people will write about it here :3, i can start whit the 876 girls in the l.o.b.m bikini's

the physical is really great >w< hope they soon will make the 765 girls in it, just say if there are any outfit i should make a picture of :3

By the way, how customizable are the materials/renderer in MMD? Because the models in the OP could use some different shading, if you ask me. Is it even possible? Or maybe it would need some in-depth hacking?

It's rather easy provided you have the resources.
However, you could use the lighting simulation stuff within MMD (which exists) to better achieve the look you want.

Usually I don't like MMD as much as the in game models, but I did like these two videos more recently.

While some problems are more with MMD itself, the first manages to get rid of the overly shiny problem at least. I liked the cel shaded style they used. The second one is more seeing the different hairstyle models.
