Heat's learning Japanese thread
Heattokun:
AKA Heatto is stoopid and needs to make sure he can read Japanese right "Lets help Heat by correcting his translations with constructive criticism."
So, heres going to be my breakdown on what I will do:
1: Grab something I have laying around that I sure-as-hell can't read.
2: Hand translate it(possibly into Romanji)
3: Translate to English. if I have some problem,I will probably bold or highlight a word that I'm unsure of how to translate. I might search up the dictionary for some.
4: Post it here,Possibly in quotes. If theres any terms that someone might not know(I.E if I was translating Star Wars and I said "The Force" in a sentence while someone who has never heard of Star Wars is reading it, an explanation will be in the end)
Why is this in general chatter though? Cause I own more Japanese things than just Idolmaster.
So,Ill do my best~!
EDIT: The first thing ive decided to jump back into a PSP game i hadnt played in a while: a japanese fighting game... Kamen Rider: Climax Heroes Fourze! Note to self: Kanji on a PSP screen SUCKS. things were WAY too tiny.Ugh..
--- Quote ---Kamen Rider W's Storymode,first line:
W ( ダブル/翔太郎)
やれやれ...
在風りもな*くコソコソしやかって.
(*: this might be は, which is ha or wa as a particle. it'd make sense for it being a particle but i need to translate the rest)
------------------------------
やれやれ…
性懲りもかくコソコソしやがって。
--- End quote ---
Well,I still have an hour before work so lets see what I can do:
--- Quote ---Kamen Rider W's Storymode,first line,Romanji:
W ( Dabaru/Shotaru)
Yareyare...
Zai Kazeri Mo Naku KosoKoso Shi Ya Katte.
-------------------------------------------
Yareyare...
Shoukori Mo Kaku KosoKoso Shi Ya Gatte.
--- End quote ---
--- Quote ---Kamen Rider W's Storymode,first line,Translated(WIP) :
W (Double / Shotaru)
*Sigh*...
(Exist, outskirts, suburbs, located in) Kazeri Mo Naku (Secretly/sneakily/to move stealthly) (At the end of a phrase: notes one or several reasons) Ya Katte.
---------------------------------------------
*Sigh*...
(Persistance) Mo(wa?) Naku (Secretly/sneakily/to move stealthly) (At the end of a phrase: notes one or several reasons) Ya Gatte.
--- End quote ---

Are you teaching yourself?

Kind of notice that when I play PSP games on a Vita... Despite the bigger screen, some of the more complex characters is hard to interpret. On the other hand, playing PSOne classics, the text is perfectly readable, and that is over 12 year old game (Atelier Elie). Probably has to do with the higher resolution (640 × 480), even though it's 4:3 ratio.
Still, text in Japanese Playstation Vita games should be more readable because of the higher resolution.

Yeah, but I cant tell what some of this is. I actually had to sketch out the kanji for the 2nd line and then double check with someone on Skype

Yes,I am!
To either of you: Did I translate to romanji properly? If so,ill keep working on it later.
Lesson learned.
From now on: play old SNES games. *shot*

Through the power of Youtube, I found this in like 5 minutes because I was bored.

This is the scene you're talking about, at like 20 seconds in? I'm seeing this instead.
やれやれ…
性懲りもかくコソコソしやがって。
Makes more sense to me this way, see what you can get with that.
