Oh, have they? In my experience with Namco, I haven't seen them file a patent without following through with a product. (Beautiful Katamari, Katamari Rolling Amore, etc.)

Rhythm games are far more accessible to a general audience. It's no surprise that the most stripped-down and basic iM@S game is the first to be given a shot outside Japan. As it is, the series is very Japanese, admittedly too Japanese. If we're lucky, we could see a more standard game after this, but this is definitely the opportunity that's been needed for the series and I'm not going to be the one to spit on it.

True, but they've had 7 years to file a trademark for iM@S and haven't until now. Why bother all of a sudden, and why trademark Shiny Festa with it? It's awfully suspicious behavior if they have no intent of localization.
