THE iDOLM@STER > THE iDOLM@STER SP (PSP) series

Idolmaster Shiny Festa

Julio:
So the OVA will be in the UMD itself which means less disc space for game content which means Namco is going to make the "rest" of the content that could have been on the disc as DLC content. Nice move Namco.

If it's separate UMD, then that would be great but it will be region lock.

TheTanStar:
Anyone who was suckered into buying UMD videos knows that they are bad quality and not worth anything. Hopefully a proper disc release will announced.

Julio:
Don't UMD videos used outdated codecs which are inferior the newer psp encodes?

Now... figuring out how to order it while maintaining a certain level of self-respect...

And the language barrier...

Gosh, I hope these aren't too expensive along with shipping, and that they are even playable without any knowledge of Japanese.
And that my family won't bother me too much about it.  :-X

iM@S games are playable with little knowledge of Japanese, although when it comes to promotions and communication events they get a bit harder as you're basically making random choices and don't know whether or not your idol will give a good reaction to it. I bought SP when I knew hardly any Japanese and I was able to play it just fine. I would recommend that you have basic knowledge of hiragana and katakana though, as it's helpful. However, it looks like Shiny Festa will be a rhythm-oriented game rather than producing, so you should be fine without knowing any Japanese.

Some games are pretty expensive. These look more expensive than SP was. I bought iM@S SP Perfect Sun and Wandering Star while I was in Japan so it wasn't as pricey, but importing Missing Moon from Play-Asia cost me about $60.00, and that was after it had been released for awhile. Buying a game on its release is usually a lot more expensive, which is why I wait it out. Also, if a "Best" version comes out, it's a lot cheaper.

Bro:
:) Yes, I figured this would be the perfect game for me to introduce myself too, and although I heard that SP is perfectly enjoyable without Japanese, I don't think I could stand failing the idols in communications. Guessing just doesn't sit well with me. Hopefully, this game will be more to my speed.

Sorry, I don't know nearly enough about the iDOLM@STER games.
What does a "Best" version include? What's a good estimate until they're released?
How much do you think Shiny Festa would cost just as it comes out, or pre-ordered?

Er, I suppose I should head over to that thread we have about shipping from Japan for most of these questions but I suppose they are related to Shiny Festa.

Though, on a more objective topic:
There seems to be an awful lot of gripes about Shiny Festa, namely DLC. Is it at all possible for a foreign PSP to download Japanese, iM@S DLC?
And just to double-check: PSP doesn't have a region-lock, does it?
