More songs of course!
Serious Answer: Potential covers, DLC songs, etc. that weren't originally in the game.

Maybe A and B Remixes, like L4U had.

On the topic of DLC, if these really are pre rendered videos in game, what kind of dlc would we get?

I don't believe it's pre-rendered videos. My guess is that the game will be significantly lacking in songs and costumes, and Namco will make up for it with lots of DLC. And since there are three games in this series, your wallets are already dead.

ライブもまた華やかになっており,掲載したスクリーンショットでも分かるように,13人全員が歌って踊るステージが用意されている。これらのCGムービーを背景に,ボタンをテンポ良く押して,ゲームを進めていくというわけだ.

The live has become more glamorous, 13 idols will be singing and dancing on stage as can be seen in the screenshots. Press the buttons correctly against the CG movie backgrounds to proceed onwards.

I found this a minute ago, not too much new but it has the control scheme.
This is going to be really easy from the looks of it.

So the anime is on the UMD. That's good. That means it's probably too much effort to remove it when the inevitable budget version comes out.

I'll be waiting the year (or less, if previous titles are any indication) that it takes for the Best versions to come out and then I'll grab all three. I'm sure someone will creatively rip and sub the episodes before then >.>

Control scheme seems extremely basic.  Seen much worse.  Hope they can actually make the rhythm game aspect of it entertaining rather than just try to push whatever eye-candy they can push.

Eye candy = fake difficulty.

There's the voltage meter but... if the videos are prerendered how could there be burst appeals?!

Except that means less place for game content. :-/ Rock Band Unplugged and K-ON! rhythm game were IIRC taking almost all of the UMD place and here each song has additional video as well...

What are burst appeals? You mean the appeals from auditions/shows in original iM@S? If so, who says they are going to be ingame? Most likely if the meter is low, they'll add a subtle red overlay and that's all...

So the OVA will be in the UMD itself which means less disc space for game content which means Namco is going to make the "rest" of the content that could have been on the disc as DLC content. Nice move Namco.

If it's separate UMD, then that would be great but it will be region lock.

Anyone who was suckered into buying UMD videos knows that they are bad quality and not worth anything. Hopefully a proper disc release will announced.

Don't UMD videos used outdated codecs which are inferior the newer psp encodes?

Alright... I guess this will be the first iM@S game I buy, do to issues with obtaining one of those fancy translated copies of SP.
Now... figuring out how to order it while maintaining a certain level of self-respect...

And the language barrier...

Gosh, I hope these aren't too expensive along with shipping, and that they are even playable without any knowledge of Japanese.
And that my family won't bother me too much about it.  :-X

iM@S games are playable with little knowledge of Japanese, although when it comes to promotions and communication events they get a bit harder as you're basically making random choices and don't know whether or not your idol will give a good reaction to it. I bought SP when I knew hardly any Japanese and I was able to play it just fine. I would recommend that you have basic knowledge of hiragana and katakana though, as it's helpful. However, it looks like Shiny Festa will be a rhythm-oriented game rather than producing, so you should be fine without knowing any Japanese.

Some games are pretty expensive. These look more expensive than SP was. I bought iM@S SP Perfect Sun and Wandering Star while I was in Japan so it wasn't as pricey, but importing Missing Moon from Play-Asia cost me about $60.00, and that was after it had been released for awhile. Buying a game on its release is usually a lot more expensive, which is why I wait it out. Also, if a "Best" version comes out, it's a lot cheaper.

:) Yes, I figured this would be the perfect game for me to introduce myself too, and although I heard that SP is perfectly enjoyable without Japanese, I don't think I could stand failing the idols in communications. Guessing just doesn't sit well with me. Hopefully, this game will be more to my speed.

Sorry, I don't know nearly enough about the iDOLM@STER games.
What does a "Best" version include? What's a good estimate until they're released?
How much do you think Shiny Festa would cost just as it comes out, or pre-ordered?

Er, I suppose I should head over to that thread we have about shipping from Japan for most of these questions but I suppose they are related to Shiny Festa.

Though, on a more objective topic:
There seems to be an awful lot of gripes about Shiny Festa, namely DLC. Is it at all possible for a foreign PSP to download Japanese, iM@S DLC?
And just to double-check: PSP doesn't have a region-lock, does it?
