Fondest Greetings to You All.
« on: May 08, 2012, 02:30:34 am »
Bonjour au bonsoir! Greetings, everyone. So wonderful to finally have made an account here, I do hope we all get along. Seeing as this seems to be the norm, I shall introduce myself via Q&A.

~~

Personal Info:

Real Name: Morgan, or Mo.
Sex: Female
Country of Origin: United States of America (Born in Indiana, currently living in Ohio)
Age (upon joining): 17
Hobbies: First and foremost, music, my main instrument being the flute; however, I also play the piccolo, ocarina, and hammered dulcimer. I also enjoy studying language and culture, particularly French, and I tend to pepper my speech with French on occasion. I dabble in visual arts and animation. I consider myself an amateur writer of many mediums, indulging in writing novellas, poetry, and music (composer and lyricist). As such, I'm also big on studying literature. I'm also fond of play-by-post RPGs, and am currently the GM of one on TvTropes. I enjoy anime and manga, but do not indulge as voraciously as I did back in middle school and only check out new series every now and then. By that extension, I also enjoy Western comics and animation. I am an avid gamer as well.

=Q&A=

Q: How did you come across this site?
A: I initially stumbled across the site whilst searching for the lyrics and English translations for various iDOLM@STER songs for the purpose of translating them into French. Rather, I stumbled across the wiki first and lurked around the forum later.

Q: Why did you join this site?
A: While I was initially fine with simply lurking, I decided to join to put in my two cents on various conversations and issues.

Q: Do you play it?
A: I used to, via a Japanese-American friend who owns all of the games. She actually introduced me to the series, and would let me play it whenever I came over to give her little brother flute lessons. Unfortunately, her father's job ended up moving them out-of-state.

Q: Do you wish you could play it? (Ignore this part if above answer is "Yes")
A: Right now? Hell yes I want to play it.

Q: Who is your fave idol?
A: Takane. Her general air of mystique and calmness in conjunction to her occasionally quite bizarre behavior is very endearing to me.

Q: Why is your username "<insert username here>"?
A: Oh, I always get asked this, and it's kind of a long story. "Treemotan" stems from an old April Fool's joke on another site. On said site, one had the option to change their username when they pleased. So, as a little joke for April Fools, I changed my username to "I AM NOT A TREE" with the subtitle "NO TREE FOR ME", changing my avatar and signature to suit this theme as well, typed in all-caps and typed like I was either an AI or an extraterrestrial all day. People found it hilarious due to being so out-of-character for me, and for some reason found the name hilarious, so I ended up keeping the username even after I was done with the joke. For about a year, I endured constant reminders of the joke and everyone and their mother insisting that I was, in fact, a tree. I responded by changing my username to "Treemotan", with the subtitle "Fine, I AM a tree." From there, the name kind of stuck. As for what I derived the name from. . . "Tree" should be rather obvious, "mo" is Mo, my nickname, and "tan" is from my username on the aforementioned site before the "I AM NOT A TREE" gag.

Q: What are you in to right now?
A: Anything that catches my fancy. My music, however, is a constant passion.

Q: What is your motto?
A: When life spits in your eye, wipe yourself off and tackle it head-on.

Q: Who's your favorite singer(s) right now?
A: Even though he's deceased, Michael Jackson is and forever will be the King of Pop.

Q: What are you up to right now?
A: Typing this, currently. Otherwise, I'm trying to get the piccolo solo in "Stars and Stripes Forever" under my fingers since I have to play it with our current piccolo player in about nine days.

Q: Do you have any expectations from this site?
A: I simply hope to have good conversations here about a series I adore, and that I will be able to respectfully voice my opinions without being completely crucified like I have on other sites.

=== Other Stuff ===

This pretty much covers all of the bases. I do hope I'll enjoy it here.

Yes, I recognize your username. I'm Motree over there. Not much of a story behind that name, other than my ditziness making me forget that the correct order is "Tree" followed by "Mo" and not the other way around.

Welcome, welcome.

Which RPG's are you playing at this point? Never really tried it, and the only ones I know are Paranoia, Dark Heresy, and Maid RPG.

And a flute player, huh? Had a lot of cousins that played the flute.

I don't play tabletop RPGs nearly as much; I prefer forum-centered ones. Not currently in any, though I am currently the primary GM of the "A Game of Chance" series of RPGs over at TvTropes, currently supervising over A Game of Lies.

And yes, flutes are awesome.

Welcome, you sound like a fascinating person! Hope to see you around :)

I personally don't think I'm too fascinating a person at face value, but I know I could give a psychologist a run for his money. And I'm already posting around quite a bit here.

Ah, yes, the beautiful and amazing Ohimechin. With her grace and dining prowess, Adam Richmond can eat his heart out.

Yeah, and who is Adam Richmond?
Ah, guy from a show in the U.S. called "Man Vs. Food". He basically takes on different eating challenges at various places around the country. Usually succeeds, but most of those food challenges seem utterly impossible. I'm basically saying Takane has a bottomless stomach.

The flute? That was my sister's instrument. Almost was mine too, until I decided I wanted to be different than my sister. ^^

Band instructor convinced me to go with the trombone for a year, and I was barely over 5 feet at the time. What the crap, I dropped that past the first year, I don't think I could even reach 7th position.

I beg leave to disagree~ I remember 17 and if I had asked my fellow teens what they were up to many of them them would just say: "stuff" or "college" or "I don't know" :P

Funny story is, I initially wanted to play trumpet or trombone when I started, but couldn't get a sound out of either of them. So I just said I'd play whatever the director suggested. Here I am, a flutist and loving it.

That's mostly because most 17-year-olds are completely apathetic towards anything that isn't what they happen to be interested in. I'm just a very talkative person who like to elaborate on everything.
