I like the trailer. The events look interesting, the song's catchy, and the les yay involving Makoto certainly caught my attention. MakotoxYukiho and MakotoxHaruka, yay~

But no Hibikin and Ohime-chin makes me sad. T_T

The song is really cute! I wouldn't even mind seeing it make an appearance in iM@S 2 as DLC along with the 1st Vision outfits... Although it's sad to see Hibiki and Takane left out. ;u;

How old do you have to be to gamble in Japan? 20?

Let me put my 2 cents into this:
The im@s 1 designs were used because the engine used in that game was a middleware engine (ie. It's an easy port).
If this were to see a console release, it'd probably end up on the 360 due to the above. If it ends up on PS3, it'll happen at the same time as the 360 release due to Microsoft's new release rules in Japan.

In Japan, it's illegal to "gamble". However, "skill-based" games are legal, which is why games like mahjong and pachi-slots (like this one) are legal.

Ditto.  I was going to try to make a gif from those inserts in the trailer - but it didn't work.

(this bit might be ridiculously stupid, but ... meh)
So an iM@S Plinko game with multiple balls and a video screen?  Or did I just fail at understanding Pachinko?
Wonder what would trigger the movies.  And wonder how much cash in metal balls would you have to stuff into the machine for a full "playthrough"
Must learn Japanese one of these days ... T_T

Quote from: Wikipedia
A pachinko machine resembles a vertical pinball machine, but has no flippers and uses a large number of small balls. The player fires balls into the machine, which then cascade down through a dense forest of pins. If the balls go into certain locations, they may be captured and sequences of events may be triggered that result in more balls being released. The object of the game is to capture as many balls as possible. These balls can then be exchanged for prizes. Pachinko machines were originally strictly mechanical, but modern ones have incorporated extensive electronics, becoming similar to video slot machines.

Quote
Modern pachinko machines are highly customizable, keeping enthusiasts continuously entertained.

Quote
The Japanese government estimates the annual revenues of the pachinko and pachislot industry are in the region of ¥29 trillion (US$378 billion) thereby indicating the popularity of these games. This is approximately four times the total profit of world-wide legal casino gambling each year.

In other words, invested parties are always coming up with new widgets, gimmicks, lures and styles so with a big cash-cow as this game will be it's not unlikely that they may try some newer tricks.

Here is a quick guide to the game:

http://www.japantoday.com/category/lifestyle/view/an-addict%E2%80%99s-guide-to-pachinko

Seriously though, if you are bad at pachinko? Depending on the game type you could lose hundreds of USD/tens of thousands of yen and get almost nothing. But this is unlikely. To explore every single route in the game? It will definitely cost all but the very best pachinko players at least a hundred USD, maybe even two or more.

If I had to guess I would say that there will be rotating goals, like as an IMAS song progresses the "target" slot will change so adept players will have to adjust the speed to quickly change the trajectory to new target areas.

I hope videos of this makes it to YouTube or NicoNico because as a Yukiho fan I'd like to hear Newkiho sing the classic iM@S and L4U! songs. I'm waiting to hear her sing "Tonari Ni..." and I don't think anyone will upload it from the G4U song list.
My Favorite Idols are Yukiho, Yayoi, and Takane

The only excitement I get from this is the fact that they're using the idols we know and love. It only solidifies them even more to iDOLM@STER as a whole. I won't be seeing them getting replaced by the terribly designed Cinderella Girls any time soon.

I have to admit I'm a big fan of those outfits they showed at the end.
maybe we'll get them as DLC on the consoles as a sort of cross promotion...

This is not a pachinko game. This is a machine built to take in money.
