The iDOLM@STER anime - criticisms

nublet765:
It's over and the topic board for episode 25 seemed to be less about Episode 25 and about things we didn't like with the anime from the beginning.
So ... here's this new thread to be where that discussion happens.

Main gripe that some of us had was the uneven character focus, so I guess we'll start there - if we actually want to I suppose.

blake307:
My main gripe personally was how really unbalanced the character focus was in the anime. I felt that Yayoi, Yukiho, and Hibiki got too little focus while Miki got too much focus. I like Chihaya but I felt that she got way too much focus as well in the second half of anim@s. Hell, Miki and Chihaya both got more focus than Haruka which surprised me considering Haruka is supposed to be the "Main Heroine" in im@s.

The show got off to a pretty slow start in the beginning and I felt that there were too many filler episodes in the first half of the show.

Also, as a Yukiho fan I didn't like how she got so much hate over the anime. I will admit they did kind of overexaggerate her fears of dogs and men in her own episode but still, all the hate she got among anime only fans over that kind of pissed me off. But like I said I don't expect everyone else to be sheep and love Yukiho just because I do, but I just couldn't stand all the hate she was getting over anim@s. But on the bright side, at least she got some good moments with her b-day and Little Match girl.

But out of all the idols I think Hibiki and Yayoi got the worst treatment. I don't feel like they did anything eventful at all during the show even in their own episodes. Hibiki's episode wasn't even that good and they somehow managed to turn Yayoi's episode into an Iori episode.

Other than what I said above I thought the show overall was pretty good.

That last concert was ridiculously underwhelming. It was so underwhelming, I actually really disliked the song and outfit until I came back some time later and watched it again. I then realized they both weren't that bad. Even with that said, I don't think that song was very "final concert of last episode" worthy.

Same thing with the ending theme for the last ep. I think it was called Issho. Very boring choice for the last episode. I'm not saying make it hard core epic, but a song like Massugu or i would have been a better choice (though those two songs were already used).

I kind of wish there was more interaction between characters that don't usually interact. I'm not harsh on the show in this regard, though, since there's only so much they can do since they packed a lot of events in the show.

AbsoluteZero45:
Overall I didn't really have too many gripes with the show.  I agree there was quite a bit of filler episodes, and that there could have been more focus on certain characters.  In Haruka's case, the episodes that she was in the spotlight, most of the time felt depressing.

I actually though the final performance song was pretty good (and I'll most likely pick it up if it comes out as DLC).  If anything though, I was expecting a little more out of the ending.  I'm a little surprised at how little rivalry there was between 765 idols and Jupiter throughout the series, but I guess it would have turned out like the game otherwise.

Naryoril:
about the ending: afaik there will be a 26th episode on the disc release of the series. maybe we'll get something better there
