iDOLM@STER Musical Notations
« on: January 16, 2012, 09:04:46 pm »
Hey everyone.
So I play guitar, piano, ocarina...and a few others ;) so I decided to share some of my tabs on here.

Guitar and piano sheets are a work in progress because it takes me a long time to hear the key changes in the songs.
But for now some ocarina tabs. I think smartphones and iphones have an ocarina app so try em out.

Pendant Ocarina Tabs-

THE iDOLM@STER
Lyrics: Atarashii mono daisuki kuwashii no
Kigen toru ni wa naniyori PUREZENTO
Otoko de wa taerarenai itami demo
Onna nara taeraremasu tsuyoi kara

Taiyou no JEALOUSY
Lyrics: oikakete nami shibuki agete
yashi no yureru shiroi AIRANDO
tsuretette tokimeki no mukou kishi e
souyo eien no natsu kitto kitto dorama ga hajimaru

HELLO!
Lyrics: Ima
Mezashiteku watashi dake no SUTOORII
BRAND NEW TOUCH hajimeyou
SAY “HELLO!!”

The World is All One!!
Working it out currently...tab program is being stupid

GO MY WAY!!
(Sorry this one is different quality...it had a really ugly illustration of Yayoi I drew a really long time ago)
Lyrics: GO MY WAY!! GO MY ue e!!
hora hitori hitori ga
kono sekai juu de
One & Only demo Not Lonely
GO MY WAY!! GO mae e!!
harikitte yukimashou
subete no kagayaki
kono yubi ni tomare

lol, ocarina tabs?

talk about coincidence. I picked up playing ocarina about a year ago, it's the only instrument i'm playing though and currently i'm not practicing much because that time is put into learning japanese. I play 12-hole transverse ocarinas though because of their higher range. And recently i'v thought if i should try playing some idolm@ster songs by ear on the ocarina. And now here you post some ocarina tabs (even though it's the wrong kind of ocarina).

The songs i was mostly thinking about were READY and relations, unfortunately you don't have them here. And do you have the notes for Go My Way like you do have them for the other songs? i'd really love that. if you don't have them already somewhere (text representation is fine as well) i'll try to translate the tabs myself.

^^ I'm so happy someone plays!!
I could get the notes for go my way. I hardly read by tab anymore anyway...I only read by notes.

I am working on a guitar tab for ready, but I don't see why I can't make it an ocarina tab/notes.

i don't play by tab either, never started with it for several reasons:
a) they differ from ocarina to ocarina anyway (not the basic notes (mostly), but as soon as you have sharps or flats they can be quite different from manufacturer to manufacturer)
b) you'd rely on the tabs, normal sheet music is much more widely available

the problem is guitar tabs are based on chords, and piano sheet music uses chords on top of 2 handed play, obviously with an ocarina you can only play a single note at once.
if you don't have the notes anyway don't worry, i'll translate it into something meaningful on my own. though a proper notation (including the notes length) woud probably help :p

Oh I always write piano sheet music in lead sheet form. (Just chords and the melody line).
That way you can pretty much use it for any instrument you want. :)

I tried to translate the Go My Way sheet yesterday, but the note where the right two holes are covered isn't listed in any 4 hole ocarina chart i found. Trying around didn't give anything that sounded right either (not just the note, but the whole melody).

I ended up searching for idolm@ster midis, because i have a midi editor that shows a midi in a musical notation (i learned a bunch of non-imas-songs like this), but unfortunately i couldn't find any at all.

So i started searching for sheet music. And with this i found the "Idolm@ster Master Book", which apparentely also contains the sheet music for 16 songs (as it's from 2008 READY will be missing unfortunately)

I orderd it from CD Japan now, i guess i'll get it in 2 to 3 weeks. As the singing is prominent in imas i'm sure they'll contain the notes for the vocal voice (which is sometimes not the case in midis, you have to extract the melody there) which is perfect for the ocarina. It has a similar range than the human voice and both can't do chords ;)

Oh I was gonna order that a long time ago...but I prefer to do stuff in whatever key suits me best. :D
Especially since a pendant is only working with one octave. ;D

often enough i'v trouble fitting (instrumental) songs into the range of a 12 hole ocarina (almost 2 octaves), isn't one octave very restricting? And yes, i also tend to transpose the songs to fit them into the range or to have easier keys. Starting from a MIDI that's easy (the program can do it) but starting from sheet music it's a bit of trouble. And i'm not nearly good enough to learn a song just by ear.

I've been playing piano for 10 years so learning a song by ear is pretty easy, but I'm still shaky on chords.
I usually try to sing it out with my guitar but I have a really low vocal range.

I can never play songs on my bass guitar through ear, nor have I ever been able to read sheet music, so I've always had to use tabs, despite the fact that they are admittedly in low demand, so there aren't a lot of them.

It'd be good to have a collective index of tabs or other form of notation for a wide variety of instruments. If anybody needs someone to organize the index, well... I'm always free for organization.

If anyone ever gets ahold of/makes some fingerstyle guitar tabs, mind pointing them my way?  I'm looking for some stuff to learn.  The only thing I've seen was some insane cover of Agent Yoru wo Yuku so far in regards to fingerstyle pieces.

Ahhh, thanks a lot. Something i can start with until the book arrives. Though it seems i'll need to transpose them, they are too high of my ocarina, but lowering them by an octave should work fine.

yay! got my Masterbook today. I guess the first song i'm going to try will be relations. Unfortunately it's (mostly) in B Major, thus it has 5 #s, urgh. Well at least it will be good practice to deal with half notes, until now i avoided them by transposing, but i don't want to do that with relations. Should i ever get it to a level where i'm confident i'll post it here.
