What and what not to put into the wiki
« on: July 23, 2009, 04:09:58 am »
I've been thinking, we should have a good discussion thread for creating new pages and things. Here's some things that I think would be good to put in the wiki:
*The song composers
*The CVs
I feel a little wishywashy on this one.. But:
*Talk sessions
*nonowa

Anything else that you think is worth discussing, or that you want to talk about maybe adding into the wiki, feel free to discuss it here

I think we really need some proper gameplay pages...
*tension
*image level
*audition
*last concert
*stylist
*promise system
*producer rank
*double appeal
...are only a few random examples. I know it might not seem important for most members here who already know about it, but some short and informative articles (ideally with a picture or 2) could be very valuable to people new to iM@S.

I feel a little wishywashy on this one.. But:
*Talk sessions
The problem would be what to fill those pages with...
I agree with everything else you said btw.

Those are some good ones too. I think they'd be great to add to the wiki. Because we really need some more in-depth information.
Since we came to an agreement (I guess) maybe we can get started on a few of those? (Not the talk sessions YET, I guess)

Oh, and sorry to double post, but would having pages for the lyric writers as well, be a good idea?
(This is all I've found on the composers BTW)
Omoide wo Arigatou [Composed by: 佐々木宏人)
Massugu (Composed by: Yoshi)
relations (Composed by: 中川浩二)
GO MY WAY!! (Composed by: 神前暁 )
My Best Friend (Composed by: おおくぼひろし)
Watashi wa Idol (Composed by: 佐々木宏人)
ALRIGHT* (Composed by: cota)
Flower Girl (Composed by: Yoshi)
Genki Tripper (Composed by: おおくぼひろし)

On my iM@S Cds, it says under staff "mixing engineer" so, is it the "composer" or the mixing engineer?
I JUST noticed this, BTW.

Next after game information and music information, possibly anime and manga aspects of the iM@S franchise should be made a priority.

For example, the Xenoglossia section is literally non-existent. Myself, I am not a big fan of the series, have not even watched the whole thing. But I know there are a members here who like it and know a lot about it. So, please, anyone who is interested, maybe you could think about start working on it.

Well, those who feel up to it, please post here.  :)

I'm up to it. I watched and rewatched it last year.  Just wondering, I know a certain site that has a storyline info on Xenoglossia. Is it okay if I copy and paste it to the wiki?

Great that you want to do it, blake-san!  :)

If the site doesn't say that you can't copy it, it's probably ok. But maybe you can post the link to it here.

Also the Xenoglossia page at wikipedia is probably a good starting point.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idolmaster_Xenoglossia

I don't know enough myself to really say what should be included and not, but I guess episode synopses, character info, and mecha info.

BTWSZZ.
I personally think that in each character section, there should be a spot for their xenoglossia counterpart character.
Also, someone who is an experienced SP player should most definitely go and fill out the "story" sections of the character pages. Because most of them don't say anything

There's something I've been meaning to ask ever since I made the song list
Do we still need the list of songs on the main page? I mean, now that there's a link to a page with all the songs on it, having that be there still seems a bit ridiculous

I agree, the "Main Songs" list on the front page is pretty much superfluous now.

So...
To delete, or not delete?

That, is the question

I updated the External Links section on the wiki front page. This is how it looks now, if anyone wants me to change or add something, post it here. The forum link will be removed after the corresponding link in the wiki menu has been updated by the admins (that one is still pointing to the old forum url).

Nice!
So, if there are no complaints surrounding deleting the song list, I'm going to delete it, and save it in case someone really thinks it should be there.
I also think that it'd be good to have the composers list be on the front page as well.. Seeing as noone really knows much about them anyway.
What do you all think?

Don't forget to put a link to the Song List page in its place. And in the same vein, I think the collapsible series should also be just a link again. But that's just my opinion, I don't like collapsibles on wikipedia either.
