Attending the iDOLM@STER live concerts

(1/2) > >>

Crisu:
So, the end of the anime comes with the announcement of the iM@S 7th Anniversary live concert in June 2012.

After watching a lot of videos of the previous years' concerts, maybe it would be fun to try and to go one in person.  It should be even grander now that the anime has been produced, along with lots of new songs since the last concert.

But then I take a look at the airfare, and from USA it's about $2000 USD for a ticket to Tokyo.  >___>  Well....

(And then I don't know how much concert tickets would be -- and good ones, too, so I don't end up all the way in the back, lol.)

Has anyone else gone or tried to go?  Maybe if you lived a lot closer to Japan than I do, it's probably cheaper.

Not that I've tried to go for an Im@s concert in particular, but it's usually more worth it if you can spend a few weeks at a time there. All in all, I'd expect to spend around $600 - $700 a week on lodging and food once you're there - transportation and such are on top that. But honestly, $2000 to Tokyo surprises me a bit - I'd expect prices to be $1300 round trip. Maybe they've gone up like, a lot.

Kinda a shame it doesn't happen around mid-late August, or you could fit in a ComiKet trip too. As it stands, you'll have to find events happening around that time, which I don't know of off the top of my head.

Stupid Question incoming!

Never been to a concert in my life - iM@S or otherwise - so I just wanted to know, how long are concerts?  How long are concerts in general and specifically for iDOLM@STER?
1.5, 2, 3, 4 hours?

Sorry about that :P

tsukihime:
Concerts go about 2 hours? I think? I didn't time, but it was definitely more than 1 hour and less than 3.
If im@s were to come here, I'd go. I can't afford flight to Japan just for that.... or for anything at all really. Not my life's goal either ^^'
Offtopic iM@s ontopic concerts: Kalafina is coming to an animeconvention in Germany *q* *meltsawayfromhappyness*

Naryoril:
i'v been thinking about going to a live Im@s concert as well, but couldn't find any information on tickets only that they were incredibly expensive on ebay for one of the concerts. well my japanese isn't too good, so i guess there would be much more information out there.
anyway i don't think i'll go this year because i'd first have to find someone to go with me as i don't want to go alone on holidays. but if you intend to go i suggest you don't just go for the concert but make 2 or 3 weeks of holidays there. there is no need for other events, japan has a lot to offer if you are interested in japanese culture (which you probably are if you care about im@s). the first time i went to japan came out of a joke with a friend "how about we go to the Tokyo Game Show?" - "Sure, when is it?". So we went to japan for 3 weeks and visited the TGS during that time ;)
