I agree with you guys, my biggest complaint about the show was the uneven character focus. Personally, I think Hibiki got the worst treatment (and maybe the least spotlight?). And her episode just wasn't very good IMO.

And they definitely could've delved into the characters' backstories more.

Just wait.
Season 2.

No Haruka.
No Chihaya.
No Miki.

And on the topic, I wanted more Kotori. I want to know more about her! And the president too!

i think kotori and the president got enough focus, considering they are only secondary characters in a show with so many main characters.
In general i can only sign what has been said here, the character focus was too uneven (poor Yukiho)

In genereal i liked the show, it wasn't outstanding, but it definitely caught the spirit of Idolm@ster.
But where the show imo was outstanding are the emotinal moments. Not just the sad ones, but also the happy ones (like when Chihaya regained her voice on stage due to the support of the others). I can't remember a show where i had wet eyes nearly as often.

I agree. Hibiki's episode seemed incredibly lacking. It felt like Miki got more focus than Haruka throughout the series, even though Haruka is considered the main character of iM@S and Miki is more like a secondary main character. Though I like Miki too...but for some reason, her anime personality annoyed me sometimes. I prefer her in-game personality.

The ending wasn't bad, but from the concert, I guess I was expecting more. The mash-up of READY!! and CHANGE!! was okay, but seemed kind of awkward with some of the song switches. I like Itsudemo Dokodemo though. Perhaps we'll end up seeing it as a new DLC quintet song in the future.

Should we start a new thread on the entire anime and review it?  Instead of piling on all the anime criticism in this last episode?
Must learn Japanese one of these days ... T_T

Yeah. Best to go with that option. There's also the original anime thread we can rantpost on.
