READY!! & Columbia

<< < (3/5) > >>

Setsuna:
Dug a bit further - It IS Sony Columbia - Youtube a) screwed up the spelling and its name (They should be referring to them as Sony Columbia, which is the party which has im@s anime rights) and b) I went for the long route.

It's a direct cave by Youtube after being threatened, basically

You CAN shop around (but as you can guess I asked around there a bit further and they told me that the picture companies didn't file in Columbia recently)

Not the country, although they probably could have (backdoor garden tricks) since the world of copyright law is so murky on a good day.

It still does leave the question why the American arm is acting to protect a Japanese copyright - apparently the US arm made this application, not the Japanese arm.

Kazoo:
Apparently the full/m@ster version of the song's been loaded into their audio fingerprinting detector, and Youtube's automatically been blocking any unaltered uploads of it. You'll notice that any uploads of the full version of READY!! that are still available have had their pitch shifted to attempt to evade the censor.

www.csh.rit.edu/~parallax/ <This article's probably out of date, but it lists some quirks of Youtube's audio fingerprinting filter. One thing to note is that it's inconsistent at detecting copyright violations when the song changes slightly. It's tricky with im@s videos because every video has a different singer or group of singers, and maybe some of them are similar enough to the master track to be caught while others aren't. Since the anime's OP is just the first minute and a half of the master track, it would always be caught.

Unaltered (Yes, it's my copy) which I uploaded to show off something unusual I discovered a few hours ago.

Actually, I think it is locked. I can't tell since I'm the owner of the channel of course. There's no notification though which is interesting.

Logan:
^ I can see it just fine. :o .. when I click the link only though -cough- I don't see it on your page / the youtube homepage for subscribtions

I tried it mostly cause I was demoing something else entirely (Namely playing around with the subtitles), but amusingly, according to my end it's been in 'processing' the entire time.

According to my end, the video has zero views (And oddly enough, one like. Do I need to name suspects) but according to my stats, having zero views and one person liking it seems a bit... mathematically impossible?

I wonder if it's possible to post a comment on it or not.
