One for regular use, one for display, and one in case something happens to one of the other two. At least, that's what Konata says. ^^

That's not always how it is. I have three copies of the Super Famicom game Terranigma (One is still sealed) but it isn't because of that. It is due to a long saga of trying to get the a English PAL copy to work in a US electric setting. The first buy was before I knew what I was getting myself into and so I just got the game itself. The second was from someone that was bundling it with a PAL super famicom and he also gave me a PAL copy of Super Mario World + All Stars to make up for a shipping delay. I learned after that though that I would need a PAL TV to make the signal work. This was before the rise of the HD TVs and at the time I heard that PAL TVs were better anyway and could also do NTSC so I figured that I wouldn't mind getting one at some point and my dad would sometimes go to Europe on business trips. In the end though none of that mattered because the third and final auction had someone selling the game with a heavily modified SNES modded to play PAL imports using a button and a switch. The button was the same sort of button on my modded Dreamcast, the kind of button that you'd hold in when turning on the system. The switch which was located on the inside of the cartridge slot would change the voltage to either PAL or NTSC. It did exactly what it was supposed to do and allowed me to at long last play a PAL English copy of Terranigma. For some reason though the system doesn't play my PAL copy of Super Mario World + All Stars so I don't trust it to play everything I have and so I only use it for Terranigma.

I know that all sounds quite wasteful but it all happened back when I was above middle class I had money to throw around at whatever caught my eye. Now I'm below middle class but I've become quite jaded over the years so not even half as much stuff catches my eye.

Thoughts on the samples:

[*] I guess we all saw it coming, but tell me I'm not the only one who was expecting an actual seventeen-year-old's voice. Yes, I know her seiyuu did a loli's voice, but there's gold in that idea, man.
[*] Not much quarrel over Kaede's voice. Definitely thinks it fits.
[*] Rin's VA is pretty impressive. Not your Yoko Hikasa, but everyone will be happy nonetheless.
[*] Kanako.... Well, she's okay. Voice fits well, matches people's initial expression... yeah.
[*] Despite me sitting here, wondering why Rika is in the first five, I'm sure she won't be a wasted spot here. Her voice matches her quite nicely.

So it's Rin > Kaede > Anzu > Rika > Kanako respectively with Rin on top for me.

zeda12123:
I have to admit I'm only really a fan of Rin and Kaede here.
Anzu and Rika have really fitting voices but I find Kanako forgettable.

Maka:

Kanako sounds like a cross between Yukiho and Ryou, haha.

Right now, judging by the previews:

Kaede > Rin > Kanako > Rin = Anzu [they both sound like really generic cute, energetic songs. The seiyuu fit very well but I'm thoroughly meh on the songs themselves]

baruhara:
Huh. I missed the song previews?

So far, my first impressions are;
Rin: Yes. Just... Yes. A little less spectacular than I imagined in my head, but I tend to have high expectations, so it's still pretty good. I love her voice, but I can't say the same for the song. Very "anisong opening".
Kaede: What is this. I cannot articulate the levels of approval I have for how this sounds. Definitely a favourite.
Anzu: wtf. I'm fairly confident that the seiyuu who voiced her might have misread the age, and instead of sounding 17, she sounds 7. Despite that, I kind of like it.
Kanako: Oh. I don't even think I have an opinion on this. It's pretty unremarkable.
Rika: Thoroughly "eh", which is precisely how I predicted it to be. I'm not a fan of loli-type energetic songs.

Well, I like her seiyuu, definitely. The song is very generic so far, though, so I probably won't listen to it very often if I buy the single.

But I might like the full version more.

--- Quote from: Compassionate Sadist on April 01, 2012, 08:59:21 pm ---Still, I'm more than happy that a few of them got CD's ^^

--- End quote ---

I hope that these CDs sell well enough for NAMCO to consider it a worthwhile venture to get more new (and cheap, probably) seiyuu to make additional ones. I always like putting a voice to a face, so to speak.

--- Quote from: Compassionate Sadist on April 01, 2012, 08:59:21 pm ---Can't wait to hear the other song previews.

--- End quote ---

I can't wait for someone to upload full versions on YouTube. It often seems to me that the previews are either more or less appealing than the actual song, so I try not to judge before listening to the complete work.

--- Quote from: animagic4u on April 02, 2012, 03:49:44 am ---Her voice isn't what I was expecting, but it's pleasant.

--- End quote ---

Same here. She sounds a lot... peppier, than I had imagined, but that's probably the song.

--- Quote from: RoninatorMarx on April 02, 2012, 12:32:32 pm ---[*] Rin's VA is pretty impressive. Not your Yoko Hikasa, but everyone will be happy nonetheless.

--- End quote ---

Her seiyuu reminds me a lot of Hikasa, therefore I am extremely happy. If I had my way, everyone ever would be voiced by Hikasa Youko, and every anime would be like a Hikasa clone-fest.

--- Quote from: RoninatorMarx on April 02, 2012, 12:32:32 pm ---[*] Not much quarrel over Kaede's voice. Definitely thinks it fits.

--- End quote ---

There's no contest between Kaede's song/voice and everything else, for me. Both are my favourite, but I think it might be because the song fits her voice very nicely, rather than any inherant soulmate connection with how she sounds.

--- Quote from: Roba-P on April 02, 2012, 08:17:54 am ---Rin sounds a bit like Mio from K-ON

--- End quote ---

Oh, so I'm not the only one who got the Hikasa feel? It definitely sounds at least a bit like her, and I can hear the resemblence the most in songs like this. And as much as I dislike K-On, I have to admit that, as a bassist, her character songs are highly appealing to me.
