They're reserving the right to change her voice actress, though I'm not sure who voiced her before. Whether or not they will is anyone's guess.
Still waiting for my favorites...
JNiles:
Urgh, this isn't the first step to phasing out the idols we've been following for the last 5(?) years, is it? I don't wanna let go; don't give me that "generations" nonsense, please.
This must be what it feels like to be an idol otaku. :-[
TheTanStar:
I believe that they would only appear as rivals for auditions/festivals/etc.; Not as fully playable characters. They already alienated the fan base with Jupiter and Ryuuguu Komachi.
RoninatorMarx:
@Niles: I doubt it. It's still to early. Also, it's a suicide route if they make a new game and not put the idols we're used to already in any form (ala Dearly Stars).
@TanStar: Though that's a possible theory, a more likely route from what I see is make another game that, like I said to Niles, make the experience like Dearly Stars. Since they're gonna be focusing on them, the veteran idols could appear as secondary characters like in DS. Gameplay? Well that deserves its own topic.
EDIT: Keep in mind that the backlash that happened involving Jupiter and Ryuuguu was because those were sudden. No one was expecting them to come as is and no time was allotted for the fanbase to not react negatively. Unlike here in Cinderella Girls (and also according to previous speculations), we had time to warm up to them-a year to be exact. And in that time, their popularity rose and Namco can play with them as their cards (pardon the pun) when making a new game.
They may show up in the future in a game. They may do it on the 3DS. They might do it on the Vita. Or elsewhere. Regardless, Namco is sure to use them without worry now.

This.
I have to admit though...they're taking a mobile game a little farther than I feel comfortable with...but I have to say, it's like nostalgia.
It feels like they're going back to their roots in the arcade games but the modern arcade which is now in our hands as a smartphone. So debuting a console release/cameo of an 'arcade game' isn't anything new.
