I actually don't get the deal with Mio either. Sometimes Scamco acts like she's a main character, other times she gets completely shoved aside? It's confusing.
Well, you gotta look at it from this point of view: Yes, it's official that Mio's a heroine by New Generation. BUT the reason why she's lacking behind merchandise and S Rares (Rin and Uzuki has 2 sets of S Rares, excluding the [CD Debut]) is because Namco doubts she'll sell. Most of the buyers of Mio's CD back then probably did it out of obligation as a Cinderella Girls/general iMAS fan. A disadvantage of Mio is that most people who like her, like her when she's part of a group, such as the New Generation or her own unit with Miu and Kumiko. Unlike her, kuudere Rin and super-normal-girl Uzuki is pretty much liked on their own because their own quirks have been fleshed out.
tl;dr Namco doesn't have the faith to push Mio, and the lack of visible love from the fanbase proved (or determined) that.
Trust me, I love Mio, but yeah, I'm facing the harsh reality here. I know I've said this before, but if we want her to be seen more often, it's the responsibility of us fans, now.
