iDOLM@STER Anime SPOILER Thread

Clear Blue:
Touma, stop! Letting your anger out directly on Kuroi isn't going to do anything.

Touma...(You really need a hug. *hugs* T-T)

animagic4u:
Hey guys, I wanted to do some speculating for the finale...

In the previous iDOLM@STER anime series the meaning of "The iDOLM@STER" was given to the idols as they "mastered" the "idols" (the robots). So far in the new iDOLM@STER series, the meaning of "The iDOLM@STER" has not really been established (maybe it's obvious) but it's never been explicitly spoken by the idols, the president, or Kotori.

Since "the iDOLM@STER" is the producer (and my what a lovely job he is doing) it's only fair that in the end someone acknowledges him as "the iDOLM@STER".

If they fail to address the meaning of the title of the anime in a good way, my respect for this anime will seriously fall even though it was a fantastic ride.

Crisu:
Xenoglossia shouldn't even count.  :(

Aw, that'd be a shame for you to feel that way.  I didn't think it ever needed to be mentioned; it's not like other series make explicit mentions of their title.  Did the game tell you outright that you're a master of idols?  I like how it's just implied.

Plus the show has really been more about the girls than Broducer.  In the game, they all revolve around you and have crushes on you at the end, but here in the anime it's a bit more ... realistic?  Haruka's the only one who really has any ties.

I guess something that would work out for you is if they somehow pulled off inserting "Danketsu" into the ending, since that song has "idolmaster" in the lyrics (unlike the song "THE IDOLM@STER").  We'll probably get to see P-san out of the hospital in an epilogue scene?  But I don't know if he's going to ... receive an award.

Actually yes.

The achievement named "The iDOLM@STER". I'm pretty sure im@s 2 has it as well.

The anime is difficult. Clearly they point out "togetherness", explicitly noted by Touma...but the producer is supposed to have a big role too. How will he come together in the end?

The overall theme of the anime seems to be how the producer helps the idols overcome their difficulties...but in some scenes the idols are tackling it themselves. It doesn't make sense that the producer shouldn't have a bigger role since the whole point of the games (minus DS) is that your decisions as a producer make/break your idols.

Crisu:
Yeah, "togetherness" [among the idols] is the theme of the anime, not the producer.  He's merely a catalyst.  I don't think the anime is supposed to be a direct adaptation of the game, or else it'd be more like a harem series, where everyone flocks around Producer-san and can't make any decisions on their own without him.

I think viewers would get a little tired of it.  In the game, /you/ are the producer, so you get all the attention.  So the only way that would work out is if every episode were like episode 1, from a first-person perspective.  That'd be the most like the game.  Instead they made P-san out to be his own character, which I find a bit more realistic in an anime setting.  He does his job, helping them realize their potential in early episodes, but towards the end of the series, they've grown up and become more talented and have started taking care of their own careers.  I couldn't be more proud of them all.

In the games, you focus on one girl (or three), and the rest of them pretty much don't ever appear.  That wouldn't work out too well in the anime, unless you divided the series into separate arcs like visual novel adaptations.  We wouldn't get to have so many episodes with all of them as a group together, and the tension would be a bit weird if P-san has to change his focus from one girl to the next so suddenly.  (No jealousy amongst the others?)

I view the anime as a separate entity.  It's titled IDOLM@STER, despite being loosely based off the second game.  Jupiter and RK weren't really pitched as rivals you needed to defeat, and they added in Shinkan Shoujo (whom I'd like to see more of), Kotori goodness, and lots of performances.  Too many awesome things have occurred for me to be disappointed now, and I have felt that way since episode 10, I think.
