the snowman stage doesn't have stage lights either, it has even less of them than the beach stage, but there skill is no realtime shadow. but i'd say thats an oversight on namcobandai's part.

Actually, I think there's stage lights in play, but they didn't show it. The beach stage is the only one where I can think of where none of the ground light effects ever come into play (I'll have to check by running a few songs over it, but Marionette's Heart has a rose running on the stage half the time or more). It's an oversight on NBGI's part though, if the error's there.

i'm pretty sure when i checked the shadows before posting yesterday that relations had some moving spotlights on the floor on the beach stage

Beach stage does have spotlights but also has real shadows.

I watched some old im@s xbox 360 videos and I think that ps3 has real shadows while xbox 360 does not. Someone please confirm.

I don't see why everyone is talking about "real shadows": If there weren't, then the game would look like SP (ie. pre shaded models -- *shakes head*). The reason you don't see "proper shadows" is due to the dynamic light placement (as explained in technical discussions prerelease): One light is always directly above each of the idols in question, then there is always a light to produce shading on the left/right and dynamic shadows for arms/costumes/hair/etc. It only looks like its omitted -- If you shine enough lights in various directions, shadows tend to dissapear/distort.

Also, there are spotlights in the beach stage -- Look at the pole attached to the two posts: what are those? I can see the light effects, but they aren't very visible due the the bright environment.

Okay finally confirmed this one for myself.

Stage- Beach Live

A video from Domelola which I am going to have to assume is ps3 because it states it in the title. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwPO6W-Mli8

From iDOLikutosama which was taken from sm15997630 (which I don't think exists anymore)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nmu8Hn3MnF0

Same song. Different shadowing/lighting technique.
This is what I was talking about.
Sorry I couldn't use proper terms.

Also confirmed with this stage:

Stage- Side Sunny, Side Beach

Provided by SuperTOMOCAT
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggqiSGt84C4

Note shadowing/lighting technique

it is different when shown in the ps3 advertisement from NBG-

Right on! I didn't notice it in videos until ps3 version so I'm assuming it's ps3 only?

I managed to get both videos in sync so I decided to take some screenshots.

Now I don't feel so bad about ordering the game twice.

The more I look at it, the more I actually suspect that the PS3 version of the beach stage is actually an oversight on NBGI's part.

That being said, it's probably one that looks better, but the thing is for a stage setup of that kind (If you've been lucky or unlucky enough to work on sets with a huge amount of lighting, even during daytime) the PS3 one is actually less likely to happen. (Yes, I mean what I said. It is in fact, less likely to be realistic in a real world scenario.)

Wanted to type this earlier, but being one handed at the moment sucks.

That's what I was thinking...it looks really goofy with the spotlights. But oh well....they want to show off I guess.

It's not like the fans are stupid. But at first look it is more aesthetically pleasing. The must be trying to trick us.

What the... Is it just me or does it look like there are male characters are wearing the idol dresses? I can't even tell what "Tales of" game that is.. I can only recognize what seems to be Asbel and Sophie from Graces.

lol okayyyyyy then. That's Tales of Innocence R for the Vita (kind of crappy graphics still though), a re-imagining of the DS game.

    Hermana -> Yayoi
    Ange -> Ritsuko
    QQ -> Hibiki
    Kongwai -> Either Hokuto or Touma's (white) outfit. I can’t quite tell.
    Spada -> Shouta (black)

No male is wearing a female idol outfit, though. Hermana just has really short hair. And QQ's hair is up. And Ange's hair is in a pony tail.

Yeesh, why so weirded out, guys? lmao
