Oh. I wasn't aware of that!

So if I create a new profile on my PS3, create a JP PSN account and the download the Horns... it'll be applied to my regular profile too?

Maybe you guys already figured that out, if I'm just pointing out the obvious then sorry, but the horns accessory is free.

As is the Onigiri Head, though it requires buying everything from the DLC... or well, most of it.  "Free" is subjective!  Um, let's see... before I post I'll get the info straight.

Ah... okay... it requires buying everything but the 300k, 600k, avatar pack, and Sheep Horns (odd they listed this).  I got a little confuzzled there, but I think I understand.  You may purchase the Floral/Luxury/Starry outfits and the accessories in the discounted packs, so no need to purchase them separately.  Same with the mail addresses, separately or all together.  So um, 11,840 in total (discount packs included)?  The JP Wiki seems to list that amount as well.  The Onigiri Head is only available in the PSN store (under the folder for the DLC catalog), not from the catalog in the game itself.  It's a nice Dance accessory until you unlock or buy something better.

It is also ridiculous and absolutely appropriate surrounding Miki's noggin.

I think "random accessory" is an idolm@ster meme. So the crazier, the more appropriate.

AUUUUUUGH!  I just lost all my Idolmaster save data!  I have no idea how this happened... I might've not been paying attention for a sec, but that wouldn't be enough to delete my data.  Everything's gone, except for the trophies- my other games' data is okay, I think.  I have a backup, but it's old... so much for squeezing in a little gameplay.

I have no idea how this happened.  Maybe it's something to do with the fact that it's an import?   :-[

It's a known problem even with the 360 ver.
The game sometimes forgets to autoload your save at the start and the game has autosave on default settings.
Changing options, going to S4U and so will trigger autosave, so yea.
Usually it's best to go back to the XMB or dashboard if you think something's wrong with your save, you don't want to mess around too much in case the autosave will kick in.

The only bug I'm aware of is if you attempt to run the extra episodes while you have a game (or several) normal games running, the process of saving the extra episode clear will clear out the first slot of the regular run.

I've only heard of one case of this happening though.

As BT2 noted - if for whatever reason it goes back to the 'Please input your Producer name' screen, exit the game (or reset it) and it SHOULD reload the correct data on reboot.

Then again, I forcibly turn off Autosave, and save manually. It saves me a lot of trouble since I get awareness of errors like that.

Thanks for the info.  Too late for me, though.  I tinkered around in the menu and triggered the autosave (S4U and Options menu).  Guess I shouldn't waste time- time to start the slow, painful, and possibly ineffectual restore process.  REDRUM.

Yep, that's what happened, except I didn't do the smart thing and shut it off immediately.  Back to square 1, maybe 2.  I'll be turning off Autosave from now on. -_-

My last and only IM@S backup was done on 11/12, with 6 1/2 hours of gameplay and 26 game weeks.  I might as well start from scratch, because that first playthrough was BAD.

In my haste to deal with my data loss, I neglected to give the development  team a big middle finger.  Whoever let this whopper of a bug slip by, you are not a developer.  You are a fraud, you and your single save file system.

So I just managed to download the Catalogue 01 and the ram horns! Woot!

If I do decide to spend some money on DLC at some point... is it as simple as buying it through the catalogue on my JP account and then it'll be available on my English account too? Does that work for all the DLC?

On that note, what are those 'Mail' items for reach of the girls?

Scrounged up this: (nukIM@S-3) http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm14364377

Download link in the description.

First, install Javie, then install nukIM@S-3 as described in the video.

Off the top of my head, I'd bet this mainly operates on some sort of edge detection algorithm. Which one, well couldn't say unless I delved into the code, then read up on various edge detection algorithms (would not take me a short amount of time).

Also, keep in mind this was like a 10 minute search for me, so there could be something else out there. I can't imagine there wouldn't be a commercial program out there somewhere that can do the same thing too. Maybe something by Adobe?

Nothing I've found externally - It's generally not a common deployment in commerical suites (Generally, you decide to blue/green screen prior to a shoot, not after)

I've been looking over it, looks like a combination of a edge detection and gradienting. It's curious stuff, to say the least.

I'll have to spend more time (none of which I have TIME for at the moment) to look into it further and probably write myself up a guide, to expand capablities. Too bad this is going to take me for fricking ever since I have so many projects at the moment...

Okay so uh, answers:

should be that simple, yes (I haven't gotten any of the dlc to actually know first hand sorry). as long as it's on the same PS3, any account can read the dlc.

basically, like the automated mails in-game for things like LUCKY RABBIT sales, the girls can send you mail if you buy their mail dlc. you can get boosts from it from what I understand, but I don't have the money to spare on them so I (again) don't have any first hand information to give you on it :V

It is that simple!  So far the only items people have reported issues with are the avatar packs.

In regular play, at the end of some weeks, you get an email from the boss, the store, etc.  Buying the mail option for each character allows you to get emails from the girls as well.  Sometimes they send pictures of themselves too.  I went and bought all of the mail addresses and to me, it adds to the game play.  You see more of their personality come out, they'll talk about hanging out with some of the other girls, etc.  However, if you can't read Japanese at all, I'd say skip them and save your money for other things.  The mail boost that you occasionally get from them doesn't seem very significant.
