Sure, the first 2-3 playthroughs might still be fun but 4-9 is just the same thing over and over again. Also doesn't help that 5 out of 9 idols' story use the same formula.

I've done four play throughs that were pretty addicting to me. But number of play throughs aren't really an issue for me. I barely play the games I really love more than 2 or 3 times anyway. :P Can't vouch for the story, but I think it says something if I was willing to keep playing without an ounce of understanding of the Japanese language. I mean, obviously that's just me and would in no way apply to everyone else.

And suddenly the spelling of "through" looks really bizarre.

I think the game does get a fair bit of credit -- I've played it at least...hmm, 7-10 times through? and some of it gets a bit stale, particularly the rigged events (where Takagi pops up like "you wanted to go shopping today? Well, too bad, gotta fight Jupiter and lose") and all the story-stuff that you can't skip.
I think if they included a 'free-produce' mode or something, it would be better XD
Honestly, nowadays I play it for money -- I saved the expensive stuff for last so I actually still have two 500,000 money costumes to buy. I'd usually been holding off on playing the game itself 'till someone requested something I didn't have...so then I'd play the game until I had enough money, buy it, and then S4U-ify their request.

Kind of sad, since I left a Makoto/Hibiki/Mami unit unfinished. I liked that unit :P

All in all, I guess it's hard to say the game sucks (it's what we're all on this forum for, right?). Even given that little things like lyric select and producing solo/duo/trio are gone, the actual game can get stale easier than iM@S1 imo. Your unit is a lot less..."customizable" XD

Though, I STILL don't have all the costumes/accessories in iM@S1. Game can keep you coming back forever just to unlock all that stuff

Hitsuji-chan:
I'll be looking forward to playing hours of this game and unlock (or buy) all the stuff from the shops in the game! :3
