The best part is that the menu background always changes.

I'm trying to understand exactly how DLC is made. Why, and who ends up profiting out of the situation?

Say Namco Bandai creates a catalogue of DLC for iM@S. Right? What are the costs involved in order for their DLC to be on the PSN stores? I can only imagine some kind of base level fee due to the bandwidth and advertising. So do the developers create the advertising campaigns for Sony's PSN stores, or are multiple advertising campaigns created and Sony chooses? And the consumers buying the DLC ― do they indirectly support Namco Bandai, or is DLC simply bought from Namco Bandai by Sony, so they receive all profits? Or perhaps the profits are cut by percentage, with Sony receiving a certain percentage of money from every sale, while Namco Bandai receive another percentage.

The reason why I'm asking is because I recently heard a comment on another forum, something to the amount of "I bought all of the Tales of Graces f to show my support to Namco Bandai, and in the hopes of them localizing other titles". I don't think this kind of practice influences companies into making more DLC, otherwise companies would just continually dispense DLC and never make new games.

I can't imagine they make much of a profit as the DLC itself seems rather costly to create.
I mean for a new im@s song that means they have to hire the dancers, set up the 3D rigs, get every voice actress to record the song (and it doesn't always happen in one take).

The DLC might be just a way to extend the game's playability while the developers work on the next big thing in the iDOLM@STER franchise and is a way for them to make a little spare change while doing so.

I imagine everyone involved is on a contract guaranteeing at least X amount of catalogs, but that's just my conjecture. That way, everything is paid for up front, and you know you'll make everything by Y date, or someone gets burned bad.

Also, intuitively both Sony and NBGI would get a cut of the profits (how it's split, dunno), 'cause otherwise you'd be selling stuff to Sony and not the users. I mean, if Sony bought the DLC then in turn sold it, the developer's one step away from the consumers, and I'd imagine that wouldn't pan out too well for the consumers in the end. Me, I'd imagine that you'd pay for space on the PS Store, whether it's advertisement space or the rights to even be listed, and Sony takes a cut on top of all your sales. There was actually some conflict between Microsoft and some developers about this, since some developers (who were also the publishers) wanted to release content for free, but MS wouldn't let them 'cause then guess who didn't get a cut?

Though buying a Japanese game's Japanese DLC in the hopes of getting it localized... well, if they can actually pinpoint that the person buying it came from the States or something, sure. Don't think they can, though.

That isn't going to work. Unless they scan IP addresses, they're not going to be able to detect where people are from, as the account would simply fall under the region of Japan.

Tales of Graces was actually localized, so I can understand why people might be buying the DLC "to show support" for a possible future localization, unfortunately I can't see too many people doing this nor can I see too many people influencing them. Then again, having played Xillia I'm sure it'll be localized at a later date.

Hurray!  It took me almost 6 months to do it, but I finally obtained all the trophies!  Now the only thing left to do is buy the two last outfits in the BK Maniac store I haven't gotten around to getting yet.

I use that costume for Do-Dai as well, with the pink stage full of pink balloons  :P

It's only 40000.

Also I am doing my first Hyper run and it makes me wish I hadn't stuck to Normal for so long cause everything feels so much more difficult.  :\

I'm doing my first hyper run to get a feel for it, but mainly for the sake of getting a ton of money.
