Let's take a breather and relax folks. I think everyone's just tossin' stuff around for fun, it'd be a bad idea to take much of this seriously. DLC-per-idol would be messy to implement I'll agree, as the current engine doesn't seem to support the idea. Even if such a thing were to happen (complicated patching and all that jazz), I don't see why they couldn't offer such a thing. If NamBanCoDai ever did, I'd like to see "packs" of songs for the price they've been selling at. Then I'd be on board with it, but I realistically don't see it happening. I'm quite happy with the way things are currently, perhaps we'll see some more (or returning) functionality in a later iM@S game?
As for licensing music from real idol groups? I really don't see that happening either, as that would involved quite a bit of fuss just to bring it into the game. The group mentioned thus far belongs to Avex, and I doubt Columbia would be too happy with NBGI tossing something from a competitor in there. Licensing (what type, how long, yadda yadda), planned distribution (game-only, CD in the future, whatever you can imagine), profit sharing (... can be a nightmare when dealing with new partnerships), blah blah... it all gets messy and money slim when it's all said and done.
Nice to dream though, and who knows? NBGI does strive to put a few covers on their CDs, so at least they're makin' somewhat of an effort to get nostalgic.
I myself toss around the BRS idea as a "that would be super swell" type o' deal. Whether NBGI does, via some spry chance, add BRS to iM@S2? Then rock on, but I won't hold my breath. Overall the general opinion seems that fans are pleased with the DLC thus far, it'd be silly for NBGI to waka waka with it now. It may not be the cheapest out there, but the content is well designed... so I'm all game.
Let's continue to have fun everyone, it's much more awesome that way!
Ah... the "I'm all game" pun wasn't quite intended.
