Idolm@ster 2 on PS3
Naryoril:
the snowman stage doesn't have stage lights either, it has even less of them than the beach stage, but there skill is no realtime shadow. but i'd say thats an oversight on namcobandai's part.

Actually, I think there's stage lights in play, but they didn't show it. The beach stage is the only one where I can think of where none of the ground light effects ever come into play (I'll have to check by running a few songs over it, but Marionette's Heart has a rose running on the stage half the time or more). It's an oversight on NBGI's part though, if the error's there.

i'm pretty sure when i checked the shadows before posting yesterday that relations had some moving spotlights on the floor on the beach stage
animagic4u:
Beach stage does have spotlights but also has real shadows.
I watched some old im@s xbox 360 videos and I think that ps3 has real shadows while xbox 360 does not. Someone please confirm.
TheTanStar:
I don't see why everyone is talking about "real shadows": If there weren't, then the game would look like SP (ie. pre shaded models -- *shakes head*). The reason you don't see "proper shadows" is due to the dynamic light placement (as explained in technical discussions prerelease): One light is always directly above each of the idols in question, then there is always a light to produce shading on the left/right and dynamic shadows for arms/costumes/hair/etc. It only looks like its omitted -- If you shine enough lights in various directions, shadows tend to dissapear/distort.
Also, there are spotlights in the beach stage -- Look at the pole attached to the two posts: what are those? I can see the light effects, but they aren't very visible due the the bright environment.
