Every single concert I've checked out at AWA has been chronically underattended to the point where I wonder if the guests get upset.  The lines look huge, then everyone files in and there's tons of space. ._.

Real Ultimate Japanese guests this year though, so I thought maybe they'd be more in demand... but, if you say so. They only scheduled an hour for two artists (and an hour for the others), they might not be expecting it to be that high profile.

It'd really be sad if these artists don't even have long autograph lines. I don't know how it happens, but at Anime Central, Chiaki Takahashi had like... three people in her line one day, and I knew all three. ;_;

I could be wrong this year, but my previous trips point to it being a quiet event.  Here, in my opinion, is why:

Most musical events are held in the Williams Ballroom, or rather, pieces of it, as it can be divided up into smaller segments.  You can see that there's a Touhou event and a Tales panel going on at the same time in the adjacent rooms.  I'm not sure about the CDF portion, but I've been in the AB room, and it is quite small.  There's no room for pyrotechnics or fancy stunts.  The concerts aren't the spectacles you get when you buy a ticket to someone's concert- they're just live musical performances in an intimate setting.  Given that, an hour is plenty- most pop/punk/anime songs are very short.

The main ballroom is bigger, but it doesn't get used for musical events that often.  FYI, the last person I recall getting the main ballroom was Ryo Horikawa, voice actor for Vegeta and last year's featured guest.  (I went in expecting enka and got my ears blown off.)  Idol Yuu Kikkawa performed in the Williams last year, as did another singer/seiyuu.  I've seen various acts- visual kei, surf, punk performance, perform there, and they all fit in with room to spare.  If they scheduled Yuu Asakawa and Co for the Williams, then they must be confident about the attendance, and they will simply turn people away if it gets too crowded.

The acts that would bring in the huge crowds are precisely the ones that AWA can't support because of their infrastructure needs.

Another mitigating factor is that what you and I are interested in isn't necessarily what the teenage crowd is interested in.  Most of her roles listed on the info page are for shows that they aren't watching.  If there is a big turnout, it will be due to people coming to AWA specifically to see her.

Chiaki Takashi's non-Idolmaster roles are kinda scattered... I remember her primarily as Takako, the student council president from Otoboku.

She's in Blazblue and she's also just a fabulous 3D lady *feverishly points to avatar*

Are you going to see the Kors K concert?

He's not coming up for me on the schedule form... I guess I missed that.  I'll keep an eye out for schedule updates... hope my poor ears hold out.

Exhausted.  All I did was pick up my badge, look around, and grab dinner and I'm already conned out.  Hope my hearing problem goes away or it's going to be a rough weekend.

What happened to your hearing?

As for myself pretty burned out from working out.

Nothing much, just seasonal allergies- I have a little bit of tinnitus I just can't shake.  I get weird sinus allergies every fall.  Since it's not an earache or heightened sensitivity to noise (both of which I'm familiar with), I think I'm just going to tough it out.  My doctor figured they'd recover by the weekend.  They were buzzing pretty good from tonight's gathering though.

The Idolmaster panel description says "dance with our idols for prizes" - I hope they're not overhyping the level of cosplay.  Last year's random idol gathering would be hard to beat.

I still don't see "kors k" on the schedule even though he's in the program- he must be listed by some other event name.

mood: beat up.  I am exhausted.  I didn't imagine the larger crowds last night- this is the biggest attendance ever, probably because of ZUN.  Couldn't get into his panel- the line was maybe double or triple over capacity.  It didn't help that the main events room was taken up by a... One Piece movie??  I'm going to have to replan my schedule to take into account the possibility of getting shut out.  I'm digging in my heels on the Idolmaster panel- nobody's keeping me from getting in even if I have to murder someone.

I'm spending what little time I have before I pass out listening to Touhou CDs, processing streetpass leftovers, and counting my loot.

A bit exhausted, but E-frickin'-lated with a capital E. Con was awesome, and I got to do everything I wanted to do there... aside from karaoke. Thinking about doing something to fill the void on my own.

Highlights of the con:
Got to see ZUN's panel on Friday. Lined up around 1:20 in advance and was number 151 of 300 to be allowed in. Will post a summary of what happened at his panel on my blog later.
Got swamped by a crowd of rabid... fan-people because I happened to be between them and the entrance to the autograph line for Todd Haberkorn when they opened it. Had to force my way out. Classic Comic Party moment.
Got my Luka Megurine figure signed by Yuu Asakawa when the line for that opened 5 minutes later.
Got a Million Live CD from the Idolm@ster panel.
Got Perfect Cherry Blossom signed by ZUN (ticket number... 246, if I remember correctly).
Made it onto ZUN's Twitter.
Got to meet and hang out with a friend I haven't seen in years.

I'll be sure to post pictures and my opinions on the con on my blog when I get the time.

Got a really bad cold a few days ago. I'm OK now, but it made me miss two concerts I've been waiting for. Of course, "something" had to happen when I wanted to go to a show:from grandparents going out of the city leaving me with my little sister to babysit that day, to me getting sick. ;_;

Since I don't have a blog, I'll just post here.  :D

Con attendance, if reports are to be believed, smashed all previous attendance records.  All events were crowded, though for some reason, the hallways weren't that much busier than normal.  I'm not sure where all the extra people went.  I kind of don't want the con to get any bigger, please stay away~  ;_;

- Started with a trip to the dealers room then listened to some of the dub panels.
- First panel with Yuu Asakawa and Mitsuo Iwata on Friday was lightly attended, which might be one of the reasons why I vastly underestimated attendance at later panels.  Iwata has a strange fascination with Target... I suppose it would be like going to Japan and hanging out at Lawson's and 7-11.
- Did not even get close to the ZUN panel.  Had to rearrange my plans.  Totally Lame Anime makes for a reliable nightcap though.
- Had my first card game battle in 10 years.
- Even the Touhou fan panel was full- gave up and got lunch and stuff.
- I got Ryo'ed by one of the hosts of the Idolmaster panel.  ;_;  There were some actual performances at the end, including a Makoto who did the dance moves from REST@RT and an adorable Haruka who sang.  I thought Cael K. was the dancing dude up in front but apparently he was one of the singers.
- Yuu and Iwata concert was good and there was plenty of room.  Dat hipshake.
- Bought some of ZUN's older CDs, realized I wanted something more recent, traded some of them at the Touhou swap meet.
- Finally got a glimpse of Zun and Toshio Furukawa at the Sayonara, AWA panel.
- Vocaloid concert at the end of the con was totally packed.  I lost my temper and snapped at a security staffer who wasn't to blame for what happened before she arrived. ^^;

Got Ryo'ed? Not sure what you mean...

... but no, I don't dance. Not without arrows on a screen, at least. And when they brought up five other people I was like, "Crap. Not going to get a song I know." And then they chose Go My Way, which yes... I don't know by heart. And they had no lyrics. At least I was in good company. ^_^;

And hey, I got a Million Live CD out of it.

The panel host dressed up as Chihaya had a pretty decent My Dear Vampire outfit.  I didn't realize he was a guy until he turned around.  -.-;

Pictures and blog posts on Anime Weekend Atlanta 2013 are up, in case anyone's interested. I sure do have a lot to say about things sometimes.

Friday: http://d.hatena.ne.jp/caelk/20131003/1380766022
Saturday: http://d.hatena.ne.jp/caelk/20131003/1380781382
Sunday: http://d.hatena.ne.jp/caelk/20131003/1380784655

I imagine most people would be most interested in hearing about the guests, so here's that post. I did find a site that remembered what ZUN said better than I did, though, so I just refer to that one in the post.

It'd really be sad if these artists don't even have long autograph lines. I don't know how it happens, but at Anime Central, Chiaki Takahashi had like... three people in her line one day, and I knew all three. ;_;

I know that this is late, but the situation for Eriko Nakamura was very different at Anime North in Toronto. The line was so long that it was full by the time I got to the line 2 minutes after the autograph session was officially supposed to start. It was about twice as long as the other two lines.

Unfortunately, I left FanExpo about an hour before Asakawa's signing, so I don't know how busy that was.

AWA seems like it was pretty awesome, though. Even at Anime North there wasn't any sort of official iM@S meeting.
