Ah ha ha, I don't live in the ghetto, it only sounds like it.
The slow connection to the site was on the site's end, as explained by Yunabeco. The outage was just a typical storm thing. And the jerkass things that people do (like curbing their goddamn dogs on the sidewalk, which they seem to do a lot of)... is a problem no matter where you go. I'm sensitive to sounds and smells, and our modern society is full of insensitive jerks.
Buying my own property would resolve some of the problems, but there is still the potential for property disputes with neighbors, and it's too risky to own your own home if you're at risk of being laid off.
