BlackBerry App World charges $200 for every 10 uploads

It may make me unpopular but I'm forced to agree. That constant tone of condescending negativity directed at everyone other than oneself does nothing to contribute to either a positive, welcoming tone in these forums and very rarely does it contribute anything to a discussion.

Whilst being a relative newcomer here it probably isn't quite as much my place to call into question Scotty's deservingness of his position - he's had it since long before I joined this place - it does strike me that so many of his posts really seem to have overall negative effects on the topics in which they're posted. Is that, in and of itself, not perhaps an idealized definition of what deserves moderation? Whilst an inability to post well oneself is not necessarily an obstacle to noticing when other people aren't posting well, I do have to wonder what exactly Scotty contributes around here besides making other people feel bad for posting with the best of intentions.

Watching such negativity gets tiresome after a while. I can only imagine what it must be like to spew it.

Hey guys don't be putting the hate on Scotty. He's 961 its in his nature to sound a little pompous but he's always had the forums interest at heart. This guy would stay up late battling Ad-bots and trolls until good ole Yuna could come in and swing in the ban-hammer. He may seem a little mean but he's never abused his moderator title. In fact despite my being one of his 765 enemies he had my back when i came under some troll fire after I had first joined. Whenever he uses his moderation authority its always with a fair and balanced since of judgment. When he says things that may seem mean he's not saying them as a Moderator he's saying them as a fellow member.

More on topic I think because Blackberry is a more business oriented phone they charge for free app creation because they assume that the ones making them have a little bit of money to throw around.

Alright, so maybe he works well, but you don't try to troll or incite flame wars when you're a Moderator, whose job is primarily to combat trolls and douse fires from flame wars

As Magenta Galaxy pointed out, Scotty's posts are by themselves worthy of moderation. A working machine is all good, but you don't employ a working machine that will try to drive your customers away every 5 minutes, no matter how good it is at its job

Just as Barrack Obama won't say stupid things behind "I say this as a fellow American citizen, not an American president", a Moderator should not take cover behind "I'm playing my role" or "I'm saying this as myself, not a Moderator" gimmicks

I have had enough of all that bullpoop.

More on topic, they should, after all think of smaller developers. They can always charge for business oriented categories (there is a "Business" category after all), but for entertainment purposes free stuff should be free, either for download or upload (there is an "Entertainment" category after all)

Free developers won't make anything for uploading a free stuff, even lose $200 for trying to develop something for BlackBerry

Seems those last couple of posts would have been more suitable as a PM.

I can count all the instances I've ever had to 'moderate' in one hand. Besides the whole deleting pages and pages of bots...but whatever. I'm sure there was an easier way to handle that. Basically, I don't moderate much at all, I only clean up when needed. I'm sure many of you would look up to a moderator as some sort of role model, a ruler as to how to behave, and that's normal. I find it sorta childish though. I've only been here a long time, and people liked me. That's why I mop the floors now. And I'm completely fine with it. Don't like my attitude? Deal, because I've never directly attacked someone, nor have I offended anyone personally.

Back to the topic at hand, Blackberry has a terrible business model, and as a brand, it's more for the enterprise, not for your average person looking for a phone capable of more than just calls and text. I've seen how RIM hasn't budged from this stone age strategy of theirs, and this is the reason why they're basically last. Apple, Android, and WebOS show constant improvements in the right direction, and RIM doesn't seem to be garnering attention anytime soon apart from that new Playbook of theirs. That's actually something cool that they did. But it doesn't count, it's not a smartphone.

So Raestloz, since the beginning of your theme project, I thought it was nice, but as I pointed out....."Blackberry?!" I kinda saw it would have been wasted effort. Sorry if I never actually said that before.
I'm not too savvy with RIM and BB and all that, but isn't there a way to just upload the theme on the net and have users download it from there ala Android? It seriously seems that would have to be the only way... :-\

Another cover to get away with being an ass. Like I pointed out, there is a reason the title is called "Moderator" and not "Post and Thread Deleter" or "Law Enforcer". Just because you try not to piss a specific someone off doesn't mean it doesn't piss anyone off, just as how cops will arrest you if you sell drugs on the street, despite the fact you never anyone to use it

I never had any problem with you not liking my themes, or with you seeing it as wasted effort, it is a matter of choice. I simply want to do something for the franchise I love in a way that I know I can do. But the way you mock me and others as if they're simpletons with knowledge WAY below you in any endeavor is an entirely different matter

I ask of you nothing but drop down that faulty attitude and state only the important things whenever you post Scotty. I've seen nothing but the usual group posting in this forums, do not potentially scare away newcomers with that attitude

If a moderator can mock other members as he please, how should a regular member act? What of the forum itself? I've never seen a moderator in an honest forum like this do what you did Scotty. You're the first, and it doesn't make you unique
