BlackBerry App World charges $200 for every 10 uploads

So, yeah. I tried to register as a BlackBerry App World vendor so I can upload my THE iDOLM@STER MOBILE theme

Imagine my surprise when I see this:
1) $200 for registration, 10 upload slot
2) Uploads for different versions are free (technical specs for each device is different)
3) Updates/upgrades for the same file takes one slot
4) $200 for another 10 slots

They say registration fee is free for "a limited time", but I can't risk my mom's money for a measly free fanwork, since it requires verified PayPal account to register. I have to make sure the amount in my account is less than $200 before I try anything funny

I know that if you charge $4 and 50 people purchase it you're golden, but what about free developers? Shouldn't they just charge for paid apps?

Do Android Marketplace impose fees like this?

That's the problem. I can understand that they'd want to charge people that wants to sell stuff in App World, but charging for free apps?

It's lunacy, that's what I say.

It's not like everybody has $200 for spending spree. I know this makes shitty people less likely to spew out shitty apps, but then you have goddamned Fortunatus, which requires you to see it yourself and not have someone else tell you to know just how shitty it is

It makes us wonder just how problematic being an independent developer is, and just how much money you need to even make the ball before rolling it, and how it doesn't stop bad guys being bad guys

Submitting applications for Android is free.

I have to say right here and right now that I DO NOT like the way you speak Scotty. It doesn't make you unique. It makes you look like an ass, for lack of better word that can be conveyed without trying to assault the target

It makes me wonder how such a provocative way of speaking can get you a Moderator title, or how it hasn't taken it from you yet. There is a reason the title is called "Moderator" and not "Post and Thread Deleter", a reason which doesn't seem to apply to you

You are not a Protoss Dark Templar that knows everything, and everybody else is not a Zergling that knows nothing but idiocy.

I know you're trying to get away with it by slipping something that is related to topic, but that won't work

Normally (as in in other forum), people are banned for assaulting a Moderator in the open, but my opinion is worth the risk. If I have to leave to strip you of a title you hardly know, let alone deserve, so be it.
