His gender would probably start as a secret, until you gained his trust. In that case, the player wouldn't know why Ryo was so depressed in his bad endings.

First they didn't know what Ryo had as gender,, But then in a week or something,, they decided to make Ryo a boy~xx (I guess XD) ,,
