Really? I don't think that looks like Makoto at all.

It's really just the hair... That's definitely Makoto's hair style, right down the the twin ahoge. Plus the clothes seem like her style. But yeah, her face looks... much more manly than usual. It was probably just to show that she's moar manly than Ryo, but they really didn't have to worry about out-doing him anyway...

Yeah, it looks kinda weird, but... heroic manly Makoto is always a good thing.

It does say that it's Makoto in that one panel with her holding the cap.
I think it's one of Ryo feelings of admiration(?) that causes a delusion in his head.

Same thing for him wanting to become manlier; Makoto and Ryo don't really look like that in one of the last panels 'eh?
