A fan project I've been coming up for a while......
Sev:
Marx you supported me when i started writing my iDOLCOMB@T stories when i first joined this forum and although my stories have now turned into something non imas related i do remember that you backed me up when the haters where hating so know that you have my full support in this endeavor of yours. If you would like I'd like to help you write the story behind your idea.
Clear Blue:
It's amazing how members are inspired by you, Marx.
Ah! That reminds me...I found this while I was browsing the web, hope it'll give you some inspiration.

This might be a little bit of a problem, since some people have different ideas on what each character should be. (Chihaya's weapon could be a point of contention between some producers...some might want to give her a sword, or a bow, or have her cast magic, etc etc)
Maybe instead of just one class that each idol starts with that opens up into multiple ones, maybe they can start out with more than one, each of which have their own prestige classes. This starting number can be limited to, say, three to keep things from getting excessive. This would help with the multiple weapons issue and also give the Producer an extra role: choosing what they start with. Cause a girl can't decide whether she wants to kill things with a morningstar or a zweihander or rocks falling, they're all so cool!

Interesting point you got there.
I know that people have different points of view on what the idols should play if they were in a fantasy world (I found a guy who'd like a swordie-Chihaya and mage-Miki). I guess I'm just expressing my own point of view here.
I thought about letting the player choose what class the idols would initially take, but then after looking at my chart of basic Fantasy RPG classes (lol Yeah. I did made one. I should probably post that in the Net someday..... XD) I find myself potentially repeating classes. Don't worry. The class system is still not set as stone, so it can still be changed. It's just something I thought I could use (got a bit of inspiration from Elsword's own class change system). Still, the Producer can choose which path an idol would take, so it's still another thing for the player to do in-game.
As for weapons, well, I'll leave the option of choosing what weapon a character would want to equip there. Of course, there will be weapon advantages and disadvantages, such as bigger weapons means higher damage but slower speed, staffs have more attack value while orbs have more magic value, etc. And classes would be bound to weapon restrictions (e.g. Haruka can only use swords, axes, spears, knives and clubs. She can wield a bow if she took the ranged-weapon-user path, hold two one-handed weapons if the dual-wielding path is taken, etc.).

Thanks. Cheering is usually the only thing I need to get anything big done. ^^

You probably know that an RPG is among the hardest types of games to program. All I'll say about programming, is that it takes a few years (we're talking at least two for the basics of the basics) to get the hang of it. If you understand completely what I mean by that, then you either are already good enough or have the determination to get started. If not, you'll need to find something that'll make it easier, like RPG Maker.

Well, I am gonna have to resort to RPG Maker. I already have VX in my laptop and figured out much of the basic need-to-know stuff to it. Of course, I'm having the game have a customized system (because I somehow don't like using the default, plus that would mean I'm lazy. lol).
--- Quote from: Cael K. on February 05, 2011, 09:25:03 pm ---On art: 2D or 3D? Both? Special effects? You know what you'll use to make them? You plan on using MMD models, and if so, how will you import them?
--- End quote ---
As I've said, I'll be using RPG Maker, so I'll be doing 2D art, both pixel art (characters, objects, etc) and CG (backgrounds, Special effects, etc.). Usually, I could get away with making all of that just by using Photoshop, and given my ability with it, I think I can manage.

--- End quote ---
Yeah. If what Wikipedia is saying is true, the that's how Suge9, maker of Vanguard Princess, got the music he uses for his game. Although I can, I still prefer making my own music, since I'll feel a better sense of accomplishment if I do (Yes, that was my pride talking). Plus, since I'm the composer, I know exactly what I want, and I don't have to find people who could end up stressed with what I want.

It is, but I don't want you to take that mile- I can find what I'll need. Thanks for the offer, though.

Thanks. I could help you out on your stories too. Just ask, I'll answer.
About the story, hmm..... Well much of the plot is still undecided. I can post some bits and let you guys give your opinions and suggestions. Also, I guess I can let you guys help out by giving suggestions in <what-fits-where>, after all, I gotta know what other fans think, too. (As this is a for-fans game) ;)

Thanks for the link. Though I can't make much out of it, it still helped me out.
Inspiration? Yeah, I got that, plus something else- motivation. You could say every time I go into reconnaissance, I get the idea of how to make whatever I do different from the rest, and gaining such knowledge gives me a motivation boost. Strange? Maybe, but I guess I can't really explain how my mind works. XD
TweenDoriru:
I'm a bit late to this, but hey, you know my opinion of it :D Good luck, Marx, and I can't wait to see this project unfold~
(and of course, if there's anything I can lend to it, feel free to ask ;))

I wish more people thought this way.
Alright, well if you got all that decided, there's little else I can tell you on the technical front. Don't be afraid to borrow just to get something up though. You can replace as needed.
One idea as far as gameplay goes (can't believe I'm doing this): You can structure things so that it's possible to eventually branch out, given some effort. For example, one could start as a Warrior, with the stats and the abilites (maybe a Lv. 2 Warrior gets a discount to learn Warrior abilities, I dunno). She could still take Healer abilities, though initially without all the good stuff that makes it easy... until maybe she grabs enough abilities to hit Lv.2 in Healer (upon which she gets the discount automatically). She'll still have to work on stats, but that can be done with time too.
That way, you can have your opinion for a natural direction for someone, but still with the ability to change it with some effort if the player doesn't agree with you. The other perk is that this allows you to mix and match a bit - which I find is something I really like in games (create your own style).
Biggest piece of advice from me to you: Passion is great, it's what keeps you going, but you also need reasoning. You can't do things without both, so try not to ignore either. You might already know this though, sorry if you do.
