2010 tell me about it.
« on: December 31, 2010, 04:42:43 am »
Within the start of this new decade we've had many great anime, some terrible economic issues and, just plain bad luck when it comes to oil and earthquakes. I wanna know how your year was and some of the big things (like the financial crisis or the world cup) have effected you.

The area I live in wasn't affected by any financial crisis, and I tend to not be phased by much. I had a pretty laid back, safe, boring year. Which I appreciate and plan to help preserve our peace and safe state of mind in the future.

What about you Sev?

World Cup sucked. Brazil didn't win.

The incident in Haiti has made my own life here in the U.S. look like a 24/7 tea party >_>

The spill in the gulf hopefully has made people more aware of just how much we're destroying the world every day. Our high-dependency on oil caused that to happen and now what? We're drilling MORE. It makes me sick to think about it.

This year was at times great and at other times hard. My new year's resolution is to work harder to get what I want out of my life. And to also be more honest to other people about what I think.

A lot of things happened at my place. (It sucks to live here.)

I won't talk about it, I might as well give you a few links and you read about what's going on.

Aside from that, the two Koreas are fighting again. *sigh*

Thank for asking. The oil spill had me real pissed off and this past year has had me questioning what to do with my life. The whole Korea thing along with China's problems really makes me think things are gonna go downhill and God Knows Japan's gonna have problems if that happens. the old bomb drills we would have when i lived in Japan are flashing back (US military was always worried NK would try to nuke Okinawa).

I have to say, Communist China seems like one of the most unfair places to live.
I don't live exactly in China. (I live near it. I'm in HK, the little place where British ruled the land for nearly a decade.)

2010 is not my best year. Though it's bad, I can't call it my worst. I don't feel like talking about it, but bottom line: Morality took a major drop, only starting to get back up again.

I was watching the Manila thing live when it happened. It was really bad and everyone thought it coulda been handled better.

Oh, I forgot about that. The night it was happening I was walking home with everyone not on the streets and didn't know what the deal was until I got home. (My dismissal was 7PM, which is then the heat of the crisis)

That was horrible, but it still doesn't excuse our police force, even if it that was the first time it happened.

There were some mistakes we did back there, some were letting the media catch everything the police was doing, including but not limited to how the police approached the bus (so Mendoza can practically read their movements) and the restraining done on Mendoza's brother (which only enraged him more). Oh, and the police fired at the bus. Without knowing if they were aiming for Mendoza or the hostages.

What I can't figure out is that we have snipers too, but we couldn't have one sniper position somewhere far and aim for him?

Nothing at all here. Just discovered more ways to make fanarts (like using SAI), improved my skills, I didn't go well in studies and failed to meet with my perfect partner. The only thing changed here is... I living with my mom in other home with another man.

That's it. In other words, I passed the year alone for much time. Though I met some old friends while I walking.

They could've done better if the police would stop acting like they're so afraid of Mendoza.

@kozu:
Same with you, I thought the Filipino police could've done better.

The Manila holdup was shocking.
What's more shocking is how Japanese media never really covered it, so when I went back to HK during the Summer...

Bah, Japanese news media does this all the time, I really shouldn't be surprised.

2010 was the year I lost my trust in postal services and agencies.

I don't watch news, or precisely TV in that matter. Goddamned generic Indonesian dramas made me sick, oh and infotainments. I've stopped watching any broadcast for... IDK... 2 years?

Well, I got a new graphics card this year: GeForce 9800 GT, replacing the crap-but-reliable-in-emergencies 7200 GS. Works well with high-end games (even the sick Crysis Warhead) but Oblivion still embarrass the new card with CPU bottleneck... dang... no multicore support, but finally got to enjoy it in it's full glory.

Managed to create an awesome character for the latter game, 3D materialization of what I'd say a perfect face (under the right lighting condition) from a generic FaceGen... some luck and random tweaks gave birth to her.

Then I lost the card for 5 good months, thanks to the shitty distributor not having the item in stock when it broke down (most likely, due to PSU issue)

I got a BlackBerry, Bold 9700. Works well for my mobile internet needs, especially during boring classes haha

I managed to import iM@S CDs! YAY! All 3 are Limited Editions: Master Special Winter, Spring, and Best of 765 + 876 = !! Vol. 02. the last one being the most worthy of all, 14 out of 18s are my favorite, and the bonus! Discography!

Sadly, this establishes the fact iM@S is not that popular in Indonesia, probably thanks to the shitty JP XBOX 360 requirement and doesn't-do-it-justice anime adaptation. Anime makes the world go 'round, too bad iM@S's storyline makes it hard to make one

The front cases for both said Best of 765-bla-bla and Master Special Winter cracked. The former cracked due to bad postal care, latter due to my bad backpack management. Very sad =(

Imported Okami for PS2 in its Greatest Hits version (50% discount for the win). For some reason it feels A LOT more responsive and smoother than the pirated version, probably placebo effect, but still... also, I read the manual five times just to enjoy my money

Made a THE iDOLM@STER MOBILE theme for the said BlackBerry. Feels great to see iM@S everywhere :D

Established the fact I like Chihaya more than others

Got an external hard drive, 500GB. Began to fill it up with my data

General mayhem everywhere, I don't feel better than 2009, and I feel better in 2004
